24/12/2012 01:05 | graham2405, For someone who has stated you don't mislead, have no financial interest, have no inside information and have no association with the company or any of its employees.....why bother posting?....as you obviously can only know as much as me factually! I just don't understand the reasons for your posts on all the major share BB's? Is it the high street sector that you have a general interest in? When I mentioned the FSA you replied: "Trust me you wouldn't be the first to try. Politely suggest you read this, then please state which of the codes I have broken." Which sounded a very strange comment to make after you have stated your lack of interest in hmv? | totally banjo
24/12/2012 00:25 | HIGHER TAXS demanded by the EU will put many hard working people on the streets | moneyman18
23/12/2012 22:37 | directors will not be wanting to be seen as trading whilst insolvent, this is RIP before the Xmas sales are over imho. | still waiting
23/12/2012 22:18 | Turns out that the £40M 'pledge' of support from suppliers to HMV isn't all what it seems. We will all remember the demise of Woolworths. In the run up to Christmas they looked for extended/increased credit in anticipating the seasons trade. However, the credit insurance specialist refused to provide any protection to any supplier who was prepared to supply into Woolworths and therefore Woolworths were unable to get their stock for the Christmas period and therefore had to close as they physically were not able to trade through the vital December month. Looks like HMV are in exactly the same place as Woolworths. The credit insurers have refused to provide any protection to suppliers who are providing credit to HMV. The only difference between Woolworths and HMV is HMV's considerable percentage representation in the retail market for CD's & DVD's (approx., 30% market share) and therefore suppliers find themselves between a rock and a hard place. They need the shelves in HMV and by agreeing to provide stock on 'consignment' this overcomes this credit insurance problem, yet the news into the market was heralded as a romantic gesture, when in actual fact it is nothing but a selfish move by a parasitical industry. So, what does this mean? Absolutely no difference to the market sentiment whatsoever. The general consensus is that the company is on borrowed time and as soon as the X/Y readings have been taken from the tills on Boxing day it will all come to an end. The CEO mentioned in the recent interims that the company can still trade operationally, which to me means that discussions are already in advance with the banks and that HMV will continue but the names on the register will be different. | ialwayswinatmonopoly
23/12/2012 22:14 | Went into the Windsor branch, yes busy, but the prices they were virtually giving the stock away, can't be much margin. | montyhedge
23/12/2012 16:38 | Nolens volen, no i was replying to monty hedge's post 17655. The point of my post was HMV are better expanding more into new tech stuff because cd's,dvd's is clearly a declining market and going digital. I clearly think you have misunderstoud me, I really don't know what your going on about, doom and gloom if you were reading my post correctly, I was replying to monty hedge's post. It is the stock market that is all doom and gloom HMV(the shares are under 2p) not me, I am just pointing out the management should have a more aggressive policy to diversify into new tech stuff more due to the demise of comet. P.S I passed HMV during the week,it was fairly busy and think it will have had a decent xmas like other stores | wipo1
23/12/2012 15:39 | Apollo think they can make it a going concern...... Agreed, by forcing it into admin, dumping half the stores, and starting again. Easy........ Happy Xmas | graham2405
23/12/2012 15:34 | "The 238-store chain issued a "going concern" warning earlier this month and is being stalked by Apollo Global Management, the US vulture fund that has acquired more than 10 per cent of HMV's debt. "Apollo is thought to believe that HMV can be turned around, if it can seize control and push through a radical restructuring." And to a certain extent I agree, call in the loans, force it into admin and then restructure without debt or lease liabilities. Company and perhaps half of the jobs saved, shareholders are toast. All IMHO Happy Xmas | graham2405
23/12/2012 13:19 | Nolens volens - Did I say i was in a branch that was quiet? and clearly its you its the clown if your long here. I have a stop loss system so closed out of stan months ago when it started to go up, do you know any trader who has not called one wrong? look up the VLX trade I am short there from 180p, look what it trades at now. | wipo1
23/12/2012 12:37 | wipo1 -I've no position here at the moment either. What branch were you in recently that was quiet. LOL weren't you the clown who was boasting about going to close a short at stan in August at £7.70 ROFL | nolens volens
23/12/2012 12:12 | Montyhedge - Yes the market for physical products is far from dead at the moment, yes hmv do sell a lot, but looking forward the market is all going digital downloads yes even legally. As things stand today hmv shares are just under 2p and the worst is clearly yet to come. Can they make a profit in a rapidly declining market? I hope the shop does survive in some shape of form, I have no position here long or short and take no pleasure seeing people lose money or jobs. Just think a better strategy would be to cut down cd stock by 40/50% just keep top sellers, increase console games new tech stuff internet tablets, laptops ect. | wipo1
23/12/2012 10:25 | HMV advertising a lot on TV, could work for sales, I don't buy from Amazon but from HMV if I want a cd, DVD, so a lot of people like me, buy from the stores. But is that enough, the youngsters buy online. Time will tell. | montyhedge
23/12/2012 10:08 | Dream on, I want HMV to survive, but really can't see it, unless of course bumper Xmas sales and the banks play ball. I still say should be temporary suspension until everything sorted out. | montyhedge
23/12/2012 00:53 | No they don't need to suspend anything because Monty was calling out hysterically for a suspension last week Some doubt on the other bbs as to whether Hendersons did reduce or increase their holding. Don't believe that anybody wastes time at this time of year going to the shops just to research lol and, if you are in the Glasgow area as I suspect you are, you are a liar about the tills not ringing very much. Not everybody is into illegal activity like you and since the suppliers are so dependent on hmv there is a very distinct possibility that they will pump equity in here. As for dixons wanting to buy any more shops - tosh. | nolens volens
22/12/2012 23:51 | Monty Hedge - They surely have to suspended, until we know if the banks will pull the plug. Went into HMV yesterday for research, the tills where not ringing very much. Henderson rns yesterday reducing holding, The only hope i can see here is for dixons/pc world to buy some of their shops to sell new tech stuff internet tablets, laptops ect HMV are crazy not to have expanded more into new tech stuff, why would you want to buy a cd/dvd when you can download them for free. or even if u want to buy them far cheaper elsewhere, why are hmv holding all that stock of cds? crazy | wipo1
22/12/2012 12:28 | Loganair on filter for constantly chaning your tune here over a prolonged spell to suit your personal position at the time. Can't trust posters like you an inch. | nolens volens
22/12/2012 12:27 | zcaprd7 LOL Yeah I know all these shorters with their eye witness accounts of empty shops they have visited. | nolens volens
22/12/2012 12:15 | Queues for the past two weeks is promising no? All the shorters on here banging on about how "my local hmv is empty" Wish the rain would stop though. Westfield Stratford was very busy. Expect this weekend and Monday to be crucial... | zcaprd7
22/12/2012 11:23 | One can tell when a company is on its last legs.....doing any thing to entice customers as every single Penny in sales counts..... Queuing Christmas shoppers handed sweets at HMV in Swansea. STAFF at HMV in Swansea have been handing out sweets to shoppers queuing in the Christmas rush. A member of staff at the store in the city's Quadrant Shopping Centre said: "We have been doing this for the past week or two. "Staff are walking up and down the queues and handing sweets out. | loganair |
