chaucer's report today of steady motor rates might have some positive knock on influence on highway, which expressed caution about its u/w in last trading update.

All I know is that interims are coming up in September. Given that the shares were touching 64p very recently, this rise over the past week would suggest to me that we should be expecting decent results for the half-year and (hopefully) a maintained (or even increased) dividend payment.

siskin,

Have been wondering the same myself about the 'sudden' departure of the Exec Chairman.

If you look at the Chairman's statement in the results there was much about the changing Board, but no mention of his position changing.

Again the AGM statement made mention of trading conditions and flagging risks in terms of ratio and investment return, but no mention of further Board changes.

In the past 12 months there has now been changes of Exec Chairman, CEO, FD and Claims Director resigned at the end of 2004 - A completely new Board.

Good posts - currently with 8 % div this looks pretty tasty. However, as mentioned no guarentee that this will be maintained. 65 looks to be solid support level at the mo- reckon if it passes through this then we could see it go lower. That said at current levels I am tempted to buy in for the div. However, common sense tells me to wait to see what happens in the ME as any market jitters could have a profound effect on HWY.

Investment portfolio is not what I consider to be high risk - and performance may be better than feared. Agree with fact that management change does not fill me with confidence. Maybe we are about to see a change in the way the company decides to operate?

Siskinbird - Me neither although it is worth noting that they reaffirm that they will meet market expectations.

Recent price drop (75p -to- 70p), could it be a insider knowledge ?

mmm, sudden board changes don't fill me with much confidence. No "many thanks for his splendid contribution" etc etc, which suggests a rift of some sort perhaps?

Citywire reported that Numis had issued a 70p price target. But I agree with your suspicions. I have to say that it was my first thought too!!

The question has to be whether the dividend will be maintained? The whole reason HWY moved up from around 50p to 90-odd pence last year was because of the attractiveness of the yield after the divi was bumped up. My worry is that perhaps the management will now lower it. However, it is covered 1.65 times by earnings so I reckon that it will be maintained.

Kardinnel, I haven't seen the target news yet.
But first thing I get suspicious that "do the have big fill order to keep up with ?"

Could you kindly give us some pointers or url about that news.

John

EDIT: Thanks Kardinnel, Appreciated.

Is that the reason for the fall yesterday? There hasnt been much news recently
As far as I know the large investment fund isnt too tied up in the markets so I
dont see any real reason for this. The yield is very tasty now but I suppose there is no guarantee of this being held

Yes. Last year they paid an interim dividend of 1.6p on 14th October to shareholders who were on the register on 16th September. It was announced in the interim results on 8 September '05.
