21/6/2006 08:14 | Very quiet on here... Anyone got L2? seems like a treeshake | noiseboy
30/5/2006 11:59 | Hi All, I have seen many sites/groups/newspap Do we know that what would be the fair share price, in case of a bid ? Could anyone kindly post more details please ? | jpalmer25
29/5/2006 13:16 | I agree. highway had been a steady riser for some months before the market got spooked in recent weeks. However, I had already taken profit and sold half my stake some months back at 80p (i have been in the share since 44p after all) and then gave myself a quite hard kick after seeing it go all the way up to 96p. This recent overselling has allowed me to correct that mistake and top up for a lower price than 80p (while picking up a divi yield in excess of 7%). So, I'm happy for the second chance!! | karldinnel
29/5/2006 08:57 | Greetings I have said it before and will say it again - HWY is an excellent 'flight' stock, in the event of the present concern about share price movements in the market; the fact is this is a solid stock with a good divi - so no surprise at all the investors have seen it as a good place to put there money in the present context. My only slight worry is the kick up attracted some speculative 'hot money' (someone mentioned a takeover rumor) which could mean greater volatility in an share price that has been for the most part reassurring in it slow and steady nature.... all IMHO and DYOR of course, J | jezboy1
27/5/2006 17:39 | Mentioned in the Times in the market report section. Some rumours of a takeover apparently, but analysts put Friday's rise down to recent overselling. | karldinnel
26/5/2006 15:03 | HWY was one of the best kept secret as a solid stock. This is not a company like IOT or so likes of it. We are a holders of 'honest & trustworthy' company's stock. Considering all the professional RADAR applications, it is a matter of time to be discovered and attract more and more serious buyers ... | jpalmer25
26/5/2006 14:59 | nice recovery in markets, especially in 2nd tier stocks. Bears are being hunted down. | factsonly
26/5/2006 14:55 | 10% rise today | karldinnel
26/5/2006 14:41 | Whats going on here then! | noiseboy
26/5/2006 14:03 | karl No such problem here. | siskinbird
26/5/2006 13:58 | Has anyone noticed a problem with the ADVFN site over the past few days? Yesterday I couldn't log in from about 11am onwards. But today there's no problem. Is it just something to do with my PC or is it a site problem? | karldinnel
26/5/2006 08:26 | All hwy's profits come from investments, but they have very little exposure to equity longs. See for yourself - | miamisteve
26/5/2006 07:53 | miamisteve - the problem is that most of HWY's profits now come from investments this year, so if the market are wobbly, so too will be HWY's profits. | factsonly
25/5/2006 17:28 | Factsonly - As the market nosedived the yield curve on gilts etc. decreased despite the prospect of higher interest rates. There was a flight to safety. As it stands now it is little changed. My point was that investors shouldn't get over concerned about the investments. All highways bonds are short term (less than 2 years) , so they won't be tied down with long term low coupon investments. breakdown of investments are short term fixed income 41% ( bonds of less than 2 year duration) Cash 26% ( benefitting from rising interest rates) Hedge Funds 23% (may have even benefitted in market weakness) Special Situations 10% (presumably equity offers and property) | miamisteve
25/5/2006 16:04 | er... you sure bonds have risen? As far as I understand it, bond prices should be lower with the prospect of higher interet rates. I don't believe most of HWY's investments are in bonds. | factsonly
25/5/2006 08:49 | ursus - Agree. My point was that most of highways investments are in bonds whose value has risen over the correction. Bond yield increases year on year doesn't help historic investments, but my reinsurance is that in such a circumstance they have managed 3% in 4 months, while the year target is 6.5% | miamisteve
25/5/2006 08:29 | I forgot what blue looked like! | noiseboy
24/5/2006 16:31 | jpalmer you've got the dates the wrong way round! but yes they've increased their holding looking good value | mister md
24/5/2006 14:13 | some puzzling stuff there, steve. a rise in bond yields means that the price of the instruments has fallen. | ursus
24/5/2006 12:00 | Karl - I considered selling out when the share price was around 80p-85p. There wasn't ever much strength to sell into. Weakness in the markets is bad for the investment arm, however the majority of investments will be in fixed income which have benefitted from the market weakness. Bond yields have risen significantly from last year and with the strong performance of the investment arm in the 1st 4 months (3%) I feel that year target for investments of 6.5% will be attained, and am willing to sit it out. From AGM statement 'Despite bumpy conditions in the bond markets, our investment fund has achieved a return of 300 basis points in the opening four months. Our target of 650 basis points for the full year therefore remains a realistic possibility.' | miamisteve
23/5/2006 13:50 | Hi Karldinnel, I think everybody is watching now and ready to jump in as soon as they're convinced. EDIT: For the folks who can not make their minds: RNS: 19/05/2006 16:12 UKREG Holding(s) in Company UBS GLOBAL ASSET MANAGEMENT LIFE LIMITED 7,885,754 RNS: 24/05/2006 11:33 UKREG Holding(s) in Company UBS GLOBAL ASSET MANAGEMENT LIFE LIMITED 7,906,001 I can not see them disposing their holdings ... As you see the "big boys" have faith in this company as me too :-D | jpalmer25
23/5/2006 12:57 | This board has gone very quiet. Presumably the regular posters have all sold out now! | karldinnel
19/5/2006 15:46 | see the directors have made some buys too... so I think there is reason to be optimistic. J | jezboy1
19/5/2006 15:18 | > santori - 19 May'06 - 15:03 - 591 of 592 Hi santori, I understand your logic and as a repect I am not going to argue it. However, it seeems like "THE BIG BOYS" are well reading my charts in Millions :-) ( 19/05/06 16:12 UKREG & 17/05/06 11:30 UKREG ) Regards: JOHN | jpalmer25 |
