Chris - PIs are clowns generally. This is just a lovely bargain. I've picked up another 50,000 over the past 5 days. Might get another 50,000 if it approaches 120. Look very wise in 6 months representing a lovely yield with appreciation & div.

When a broker comes out with a price target, all the broker is saying is that at some point in the next year they expect the price of the particular share to reach this price.

both I usually buy before a drop and sell before a rise. Experience is telling me we are close to a bottom but gold needs to be fall under 1200 for this to happen from a technical aspect so hence the 121p target.

Either way sentiment is horrendous at the moment so it will drop with the market and drop with gold. Yesterday's spike was just a news driven event strongly sold into.

No love in this market

Why 121 "555"? Moron comment or a reason?

VTB posted a hold recommendation with a target price of 150p on the 30th of July, when the share price had already dropped to 128p. This is not the reason for the fall.

VTB capital is Russian. I advise people to make the effort and contact Investor Relations.

As far as I can see the lowest broker target price is 149.65p. I don't believe for a minute that the drop in share price to below 130p is because some broker recommends to hold with a target of nearly 150p.

Who believes brokers anyway?

Sorry justiceforthemany- please can you repeat the broker who downgraded? Also, the only one I see is NUMIS which is a waste of time as always around 210- would be great of you could let me know what brokers rate HGM - cheers.

Have had word from IR that operationally everything is fine - as per the RNS just last week! As I said yesterday (but people chose not to listen) drop is due to the broker downgrade from buy to hold. The broker's reasoning is not sound however.

Let’s hope this crazy 2 days of unexplained drops is the end of it and we either get a strange reversal or at very least back to following normally indicators. Big one today is FED- i was surprised yesterday whem gold hit ~1215 it recovered, normally up to FED it keeps dropping- but it oversold at present. The FED will discuss when to pause gradual rate hikes, although almost certain to keep rates steady and reinforce bets on a move in september if it repeats reference to further gradual rate hikes in the accompanying policy statement- pray for dovish tones........

1210 I think is bottom and getting the truck ready, oversold is rampant.

This drop just made it better value. Don't fall into the trap of selling on drops....time to buy! School boy stuff!

Don't buy the downgrade item, as unless HGM (not just "metals") actually mentioned, other goldies did not suffer like HGM- and today we underperformed by ~3% over above what I would have expected as "normal indicating predictors". As I've said before, over the past couple of years this "unknown rationale" for drop has occurred. Plus I also noticed the same the other way when we rose from 170-178 earlier this year- although of course no one minds that!

Chip, what's the consensus view if you discount the house brokers?

According to SharePad, there are 2 brokers on Buy and 1 on Hold. The consensus view is Outperform with a target price of 197.4p.

I believe that broker/VTB downgrade yesterday has had a large part to play here. What we do know is H1 has finished end of June and operations ok. H1 results due 4th Sept I would think.

Adding here as I can and holding them, massive bargains. Now looking at hoc below 180p. No doubt Chip's attention being diverted. Doubt 115p reached here unless divi drop.
