11/3/2022 13:54 | Dave Baxter (IC) did a note on income plays around the world in this weeks mag. HFEL was mentioned with the high yield. He highlighted that NAV performance has been positive in recent weeks yet the shares have still suffered and a 12 month high has emerged on the discount front. That may have stimulated some buying, yesterday/today. | ![]() tonytyke2
11/3/2022 10:33 | Can't see a cut in the div in the short / med term Did re read the annual report too before adding 15 years of div income growth and only one year uncovered Obviously not all natural yield - options used to enhance but still pretty impressive stuff Half years reserve left | ![]() panshanger1
11/3/2022 10:26 | I've been adding as well. Last purchase this morning at a tad under 282. A yield of 8.4%, paid quarterly, was just too good to miss. All the shares I bought higher up are well under the water, but value stocks will recover and that income is now locked in. | ![]() lord gnome
11/3/2022 10:22 | I'm in now. The nav is about flat for the year so far which is amazing really. This trust is full of value type stocks and will outperform in this environment. | ![]() brwo349
08/3/2022 14:22 | Had a few more myself. | ![]() woodhawk

07/3/2022 14:48 | NAV just out at 294.9p FTSE flat. Suddenly this IT is on a decent discount. Current price 276p-278p | ![]() orinocor
07/3/2022 10:06 | I bought heavily at 270p. Fingers crossed. | ![]() orinocor
26/2/2022 12:16 | IMHO - the HFEL share price has come out of an horrendous week pretty much as well as might have been expected? - down by just 1.7% to 291p from 296p (WoW). But no one can see much past the present moment, right now, given fast-moving events in Europe. Meanwhile, HFEL's closely watched TNAV (per share) will remain in sharp focus. It's declaration on 18/2/22 was 294.1p per share. This had fallen by circa 2.6% to he latest (25/2/22) 286.5p. Maybe the 2.6% reduction is a more accurate reflection? - equating to a circa 1.6% premium, being a low-ish premium v HFEL's (closer to 5%?) norm. | ![]() exel
25/2/2022 07:53 | South Korea and Singapore have been hit by big Covid outbreaks as well but it looks like they and Hong Kong might all be peaking. China is only just taking off. | ![]() aleman

24/2/2022 13:57 | I've seen a few sources talking about China moving closer to Taiwan. For me, China and India could be the medium term direction of money. | ![]() jfinvestments
24/2/2022 12:10 | Presumably calls for a total 9-day lockdown in Hong Kong in 23 days time (surely that will be after it's finished?) and spread into China appear to be undermining Far East shares? | ![]() aleman

23/2/2022 10:48 | Hiya Gateside, All's as well as can be in this (getting worse) mad world! Great to be in touch. Yes, we were both interested in Hampson and also Firth Rixon (maybe?) plus a few others - at points in the now distant past. These days, I'm broadly with you - some FTSE100 plus a few Investment Trusts. I'm not a huge fan of the UK market, post Brexit, but have taken an interest in ABDN, ahead of its 2021 results due out 1/3/22. NOT punting this stock, or anything else! just commenting that it may be worth a look. Derived from Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management's merger, now rebadged as 'abdrn' - this is something of a 'turnaround' (under a new CEO) - that the market may have undervalued? Anyway, very best wishes to you, Gateside - I always enjoyed your wise posts, as you say, from an age ago! Finally, I do still hold HFEL which has been a very bumpy ride, as most on here would recognise. Under the circs, I thought it stood up well yesterday, but the Far East has appeared rather less of a 'sure winner' than seemed the case - pre-Covid. Where next? We'll see.... | ![]() sll
22/2/2022 22:07 | I thought same and topped up week before. I hate Putin :-) | ![]() scruff1
22/2/2022 12:32 | NAV 293.3p. Showing resilience. Topped up. | ![]() orinocor
13/2/2022 11:05 | SLL - not seen your name on ADVFN for an age - hope all's well with you. We were both invested in Hampson Industries at the time I believe, were there any other shares that we discussed? I tend to focus on FTSE100 companies and Investment Trusts these days. | ![]() gateside
12/2/2022 23:56 | We meet again, Gateside. Hope you're well! and that you remember various past exchanges. | ![]() sll |
