21/1/2022 14:14 | Wonder why he got so many votes against him? | ![]() gateside
21/1/2022 09:31 | This does seem to be stabilising over 300 level as tech / growth retreats and more value type stocks gain some momentum | ![]() panshanger1
21/1/2022 08:46 | Could sell at 300.8pSo spread is actually (currently) very tight. | ![]() gateside
21/1/2022 08:43 | Yes, I was aware of that, thanks Gateside - can do that with many stocks, ditto selling. | ![]() woodhawk
21/1/2022 08:42 | Ask is 305.5pJust did a dummy trade - was offered 301.4p to buy. | ![]() gateside
21/1/2022 08:40 | You can usually buy well inside the spread. | ![]() gateside
21/1/2022 08:33 | Most stocks that are slow trading have quite wide spreads - they reckon its because such stocks when they do move tend to move with bigger points steps as it were and the wider spread is to account for that. The mms probably dont hold many of those stocks either. I think !! | ![]() scruff1
21/1/2022 08:22 | Thanks - interesting perspective LG. | ![]() masurenguy
21/1/2022 08:22 | Yes, as a new investor in this, I've noticed that too over the past week or so. | ![]() woodhawk
21/1/2022 08:11 | It seems to start off the day with a wide spread and then it narrows as the day progresses and the bid side of the book builds up. I get this with a number of other stocks where trade is not so vigorous. | ![]() lord gnome
21/1/2022 08:07 | I held HFEL for several years but sold out @338.4p on 31/01/20. I reinvested last September @292.5 and have topped up since taking my average cost to 295.2p. I do not recall there being such a wide spread in the past - does anyone have any idea why this is now the case? | ![]() masurenguy
20/1/2022 15:06 | Thanks for that, speedsgh. | ![]() woodhawk
20/1/2022 12:12 | Dividend Declaration - The directors have declared the first interim dividend of 5.90p (five point nine zero pence) per ordinary share in respect of the year ending 31 August 2022. The dividend will be paid on 25 February 2022 to shareholders on the register on 28 January 2022 (the record date). The shares will be quoted ex-dividend on 27 January 2022. | ![]() speedsgh
19/1/2022 08:10 | Difficult to disagree with your last paragraph.. If UK stocks are overvalued the rest certainly are. They are no higher now than they were 5 years ago. | ![]() scruff1
19/1/2022 07:03 | Always headwinds. HFEL provide a little diversity to a diverse portfolio. Can't see interest rates going anywhere near inflation figures. It would cripple mortgage payers and smash the housing market to pieces. War in Ukraine is possible. Covid continues. Blah blah blah. I think investors are looking for value and dividends now. Markets may be at all time highs but should they not be ? UK markets are running on low PEs so perhaps not overvalued. Not to say that impacts HFEL because of the nature of the IT but it does add a little diversity to a diverse PF. | ![]() rogerramjett
18/1/2022 11:35 | Seems so? Gateside, but the lower measure of TNAV per share (the one I routinely track) has slipped back (again!) to 293.8p. This key indicator may be acting as a persistent brake? Meanwhile - MMs?/Buyer Demand? are pushing up the price, as recently seen (notably yesterday & partly today) which in turn is pushing up the premium in very uncertain markets. As stated above, not by me, who wants to pay a premium (for HFEL) in over-rated wider markets with so many visible headwinds? | ![]() exel
17/1/2022 14:46 | Might be finally breaking out of the 295 - 300p range | ![]() gateside
14/1/2022 18:02 | Yes. This has worked out to be my biggest investment trust holding. I'm seeing value at this level. | ![]() rogerramjett
