11/12/2013 23:35 | My guess is that Helphire will use the placing proceeds to buy companies complimentary to credit hire and repair, law firm, medico-legal reporter, rehabilitation etc. i.e. will replicate the Quindell business model. What interests me is that Admiral and the AA are both using the same law firm as their ABS solution. I think Admiral is a current partner of HHR and the AA used to be. Acromas (private equity funded) has plans to sell off SAGA leaving the AA with a lot of debt. The AA might be looking for a way of monetising the personal injury work that comes its way, and maybe it could jump back into bed with Helphire? They could both benefit under a Quindell-style collaborative profit sharing arrangement. I might be very wrong, and maybe the AA has its ABS and method of monetising PI claims already sorted. But were our political leaders to outlaw credit hire referral fees along with PI referral fees, maybe, just maybe the AA would partner with Helphire again? If not the AA, creating a more viable collaborative model ought to bring new business opportunities as implied by the company's recent RNS announcements. | nicky name
10/12/2013 18:00 | A lot like to buy after the divi is out of the way - avoid income tax on the divi and take CGT instead-better in pensions as there's no CGT but there is tax on divis. If these are near flat tomorrow and I've banked a divi I'll be happy. CR\ | cockneyrebel
10/12/2013 17:52 | Good thing I am holding some then. Hard to believe that people who bought at 0.75p per share (18 months ago?)will have soon made their investment back in divis! | nicky name
10/12/2013 16:55 | on the register on the 13th but to be on the register then you have to be holding tonight at the close. It goes XD tomorrow - stocks always go xd on a Weds. CR | cockneyrebel
10/12/2013 16:39 | The Board confirms that the second interim dividend will be 0.171 pence per ordinary share and that it will now be brought forward so that it is paid on 10 January 2014 to those shareholders on the register at the close of business on 13 December 2013. | jam2day
10/12/2013 16:18 | The divi is yours if you are holding at the close tonight. CR | cockneyrebel
10/12/2013 10:33 | So what! still got the lot | bc4
10/12/2013 09:35 | The story here is quite simple now IMO. HHR has £60m to spend buying an ABS model business or other related businesses. They could spend more if they use debt or issue shares, but the calculations are the same either way. Say they know they will have transaction costs and restructuring costs of £10m (which is high) then they have £50m to spend. As long as they don't pay more than 10x profit for a business then we will end up with approx a 7% yield on the new money just raised and that will enhance overall EPS and we all benefit. I will vote in favour of any transaction like that all day long. The three things that would worry me are, 1. If they pay much more than 10x profit, as that will reduce the benefit, or 2. If they buy a business which isn't making money, but where they think they can turn it around, as that can be complex. 3. If there is a long delay to completing a deal. In this case the extra shares in issue will significantly reduce our EPS and will mean an approx 50% drop in the dividend (unless they pay some out of capital). So, they just need to get on with it now and announce the deal. Hopefully we will see this around the time of the interims in March, but that might be a bit hopeful. The story here should just keep getting better as long as they do a sensible transaction at a price of no more than 10x profit or so. I think the board and their advisors are very focused on delivering EPS and profit growth, so I am very happy holding and actually bought more at 5.2p recently. Onwards and upwards! | goliard
09/12/2013 22:54 | Maybe twice as many after HHR's latest placing. But the number of shares surely isn't the critical factor. It is how much each of those shares earns. If Helphire can build a more integrated business model i.e. buy a big firm of PI solicitors it can process volume through under an ABS, its eps ought to improve markedly, if it can execute successfully. | nicky name |
