Who is buying the shares?

Hi L.O.

Well spotted. Sounds like Sovereign has invested in Kindertons to provide working capital for expansion and maybe an aquisition. I would buy a law firm to tag on rather than another similar credit hirer if I was involved.
QPP has raised £200 million to fund new contracts, and Rob Terry said last Friday that QPP is already handling 20-25% of P.I. credit and repair non-fault cases. If Kindertons and QPP are raising money to fund expansion, where does this leave Helphire, which is paying out all it can as dividends? Surely its market share is increasingly under threat from Enterprise/Minster Law, QPP, Kindertons and Hertz which has entered the credit hire market?
I am not saying that the shares are not worth 5.5p, but I can't see a long-term independent future for it.
Not only is it like watching paint dry waiting for news on the Autofocus claims (what's the betting that there is no progress announced in any forthcoming IMS?)but also waiting for who the heck is going to merge with or acquire HHR.
Meanwhile I guess it can continue to offer low margin credit hire services to insurers which have formed their own ABSs, and to process a few PI claims with its own apparently small ABS. I haven't seen any announcement of any large scale Helphire-owned ABS operating as first point of notification for insurer clients. The only announcement is an ABS comprising four or five lawyers. We have heard no details of the number of operational staff working with them.
But this is Helphire, so I guess I should not be surprised by its failure to communicate with the market.
Maybe we will get an IMS with or before the imminent AGM. I hope so, and am looking forward to the possibility of learning something from it.

Interesting stuff from QPP but I doubt whether HHR is on their radar any more. They've moved on to bigger things. What is more interesting is that the buy and build specialist private equity firm Sovereign Capital has bought Kindertons Accident Management. Sovereign is well known for aggressive expansion through acquisitions. Announcement copied below

Sovereign Capital, the UK private equity Buy & Build specialist, is pleased to announce that it has completed a significant investment in Kindertons, a nationwide specialist provider of outsourced accident management services for motor insurers and insurance brokers together with claims management services for drivers who have been involved in a road traffic accident. Sovereign will work with the management team to grow the business both organically and through carefully selected acquisitions to meet the increasing demand for its offering.

Kindertons services include receiving 'first notification of loss' calls on behalf of its work partners and the provision of replacement vehicles and full claims management services thereafter to drivers involved in road traffic accidents. Employing 450 people, Kindertons is headquartered in Crewe and operates 11 depots around the UK, with a diverse fleet in excess of 2,000 vehicles. Kindertons' nationwide coverage enables it to respond immediately when an accident is reported.

Since it was founded 20 years ago, the business has developed a strong reputation for excellent customer service, which has helped it deliver year-on-year growth and win a host of industry awards.

The management team is led by its founder, Shaun Ellison, who will continue in his role as Managing Director. Sovereign is augmenting the management team with the appointment of non-executive Chairman Jon Walden who has considerable motor-industry expertise, having previously been CEO of Lex Vehicle Leasing and a main board director of the RAC.

risk1, no apology needed. I just remembered some posts from last year when people were happily reporting major accidents and saying how HHR might make money from them.

It would be great if, this year, we would all agree not to say that bad weather and accidents are good for HHR. Even if it is factually accurate it is tasteless and we get bad weather every year, so it is already built into the business forecasts.

So please, let's not talk about the weather, even if it is a great British past time!
