I'll treat that uninformed comment with the contempt it deserves.

Monckton recently won a three-year contract with Xstrata in South Africa to sell up to 100,000 tonnes of coke a year.

Analyst Nick Spoliar at Altium Securities said: "Monckton has signed contracts with a new client, Xstrata, at prices we believe to be well ahead of the previous deal."

Hargreaves said that international coke markets have recovered strongly and the group is well placed to gain from increasing stability and rising prices.

The group's new renewables venture will become fully operational in August. Hargreaves has commissioned the first of five engines at a site in Wakefield which will run on green recycled fuel.

The previous Government encouraged operators to increase electricity supply through green fuels by providing subsidies. Hargreaves said it will wait for the new Government's review on renewables before committing significant investment to its next two proposed sites.

The Wakefield venture is the first of five sites in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Analysts have pencilled in group pre-tax profits of around £33m-£34m for the year to May 31.

"Hargreaves has released an encouraging pre-close trading update ahead of final results in September," said Mr Spoliar. "There have been teething problems with equipment at Maltby, but the financial impact is small and easily offset by the outperformance elsewhere".

The gap up last July was as surprising as it was warranted and I thought that's it, this wil now fly to where it should be. Some real PR work was needed to keep the momentum up with the City, and then it attempts to merge with UK Coal. I am out but will buy when price trend reverses

Volvo: you will find this share is unloved - I offer nothing more scientific than that. It is a very well run company and horribly undervalued. If it does move up it will do so quickly as it is thinly traded. I have no holding, now, and have been watching for the past 6-9 months for an entry point, but sentiment needs to change imho.

i have a large position(15000) in the stock from 485p,this stock is very very cheap, but the potential tie up with uk coal ,has been going on for nearly 3 months, which is a very long time, this is what is telling on the sp,the mgmt own a huge % OF THE STOCK ,SO THEY ARE UNLIKELY,to get this wrong,my view is like the telegraph to walk away, and cherry pick what they want.once this has been soughted out the stock will be re rated..

interesting article in the telegraph questor section,on the co,they are anti the take over OF UK COAL,AND SHOULD CHERRY PICK ON WHAT THEY WANT THAN BUYING THE WHOLE LOT,AND THEY SHOULD MOVE ON AS THIS HAS TAKEN A LONG TIME,and there is great potential in the stock buy as it is ..

I sold on the results when nothing happened to the share price. It's a pity but some shares just don't attract investors. This one should and last year's major rise was a surprise in that regard. A bit of City PR wouldn't harm

Steve - thanks for your input. I think UK coal is "unclean" and the mere mention of it is enough to scare people.
However in the long term, anyone sitting on a scarce resource close to its customer(s) will have an advantage.....possibly. Hargreaves showing an interest strengthens my confidence rather than weakens it.

Plenty of room I would have thought. I think the current price weakness is due to the possible tie-up with UK Coal, which doesn't have a very good history. I like the management of HSP - Gordon Banham seems to be a very canny man, and I don't think he'll do a deal which won't benefit us as shareholders. Forecasts seem to range from high 80's to just over 100p so yes, plenty to go for IMO.

Cheers,
Steve.
