Hargreaves and UK Coal in deep mines talks

Hargreaves Services has approached UK Coal, the country's leading but troubled coalminer, about merging their deep mines.

Projected earnings of 87.4p(76.3p) indicates how lowly the shares are still rated.
But with expansion in Europe and special projects in hand(Tower Colliery and Rocpower) the shares deserve a higher rating as coal prices recover.
We upgrade from Good Value to Buy.

Strong demand from China and India has prompted RBC Capital Markets to upgrade its coal forecast with the next two years set to have high prices and benefit coal miners.

there was a very good article in the ft today half a page on the co,looks as if europe is where they are going to expand next,poland was mentioned as well as the operations they have allready in europe which they want to expand.all good news,no mention about moving off aim..

Super solid results...t/over down yet still increased profit...good management here.

Forward statement bulls delight. This must get some good write ups in the press and SCSW. I think I'll hold on to my small punt of yesterday for a little while yet.

good results but a very bullish outlook statement suggests they have something to announce shortly- an acquisition perhaps. NOt for selling imho

Tipped by a few 'gurus' to go up to 950ish. Bought a few myself earlier to hopefully ride the results. Still seems a good long term hold.

New regualtions on carbon footprit reduction is having a detrimental effect on this company hence the share price could slip badly from here.

Yep, mad market at the moment. There's been a seller about for weeks - seems that analyst meeting brought in a lot of buyers but now they've dried up the seller is winning.

Results will trigger the buying again hopefully.

I am surprised by the weakness this week with the interim results imminent & the recent broker presentation. Any news that I have missed which would explain this?

Dib you see Newsnight last night - all about the huge coal reserves we have, clean coal and Drax - HSP are in a sweet spot imo.
