21/3/2021 15:04 | Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to add that the Woodford fiasco was primarily a liquidity concern, not an investment issue. If clients were encouraged to ride it out, that is generally speaking sound financial advice. It's only because of the herd mentality run for the gates style redemptions that's caused this to fund to explode. If clients did not liquidate this would not be an issue. Without having all of the specifics I'm pretty sure a lot of Woodford shares have recovered since... | growthpotential
21/3/2021 14:57 | Your financial adviser is supposed to encourage you to stick to your strategy and explain what's happening in the markets. Generally, due to the emotional biases of retail investors, this is a huge plus as lots of amateurs typically panic and sell literally at the bottom at the point of capitulation. The advisor is supposed to give guidance but ultimately it's your decision. If I had an advisor I wouldn't be afraid to tell him to offload Woodford but keep my other exposures. | growthpotential
21/3/2021 14:06 | So when you meet with your IFA and say "I'm thinking of getting out of XYZ" (XYZ having been tanking and been the subject of negative press) and (s)he instantly responds, strongly and with conviction seldom to be heard from an advisor 'well we are sticking with XYZ', you would simply ignore that? Easy to say after the event and even easier if you haven't lost a pile. But good on you. You just carry on following your own tea leaves and accepting you are the only fault in your strategy. | ccnp
21/3/2021 13:25 | If you were a Woodford investor I personally think it's your own responsibility for the fund performance. After all, HL is a DIY platform. It's so hilarious that investors will cheer when it's going up but cry like a baby if it doesn't work out. Get over it | growthpotential
20/3/2021 08:41 | Some good buying late on yesterday plus some positive write ups appearing on the trading update. We're getting too close to the tax year end for overly optimistic expectations but modest progress next week might be a possibility. | ygor705
19/3/2021 22:09 | Cool I agree, the fact that it's flat over 5 years is a good value signal and supportive of the idea of buying for the long run. I see what you're saying with respect to the movement | growthpotential
19/3/2021 22:08 | 400k gains, that's pretty cool :D | growthpotential
19/3/2021 20:56 | What do you think of the 5 year price performance chart for HL? | growthpotential
19/3/2021 10:29 | Just as said before - buy low and sell high. With a range of prices to buy and sell the various tranches. If it goes beyond my highest sale level, leave it and carry on with something else. This is just one of a range of shares I do this on. Not much of a strategy, you might say, but it works for me. 18/3/2021 19:44 | Definitely for richer but what is your strategy? | growthpotential
18/3/2021 13:13 | So added some more. For richer for poorer, in sickness and... Answer re above - for more people to sell than buy. Trading statement didn't move it, so literally the change in volume from selling to buying, I guess. | imastu pidgitaswell
18/3/2021 13:06 | So what would be the catalyst for this to shoot back to true fundamental value? | growthpotential
17/3/2021 23:18 | Excellent news and i always said there is far more fuel behind this great company Where is Porche now days? Is he/she not coming back to give us more stupid lectures ? not seen a dummy like her for many years of posting in multiple platforms GLA | stockready
17/3/2021 22:46 | "Like a casino" haha! | growthpotential
17/3/2021 16:04 | Och..... from a PR point of view I think that a special would be a good idea. Many small shareholders are probably platform users like me and some will also be Woodford casualties. A special would probably go down rather well. | ygor705
17/3/2021 15:06 | Might as well not have bothered with the statement. Decided to add, not sell some from last week. Having sold them all in the mid 1600s and higher some weeks ago, decent enough gap to make it worthwhile; happy to add more if it goes lower. We'll see. | imastu pidgitaswell
17/3/2021 12:25 | Also assuming all goes to plan you'd expect an increase in full year and special divi too. | ochs
17/3/2021 09:15 | Positive announcement on a dull market day. The interims clearly indicated that trading levels had been high during lockdown suggesting that bored, stay-at-home individuals were playing the market like a casino. I suspect that trend will continue for a while yet and then the general recovery from Covid should start to kick in. In uncertain times, the trading outlook here looks pretty good to me. | ygor705
17/3/2021 08:48 | I guess the market *thinks* that whatever trading statement they come out there could be others waiting in the wings to sell - Steve L hasn't sold any shares for a bit and would probably take £16+ | ochs
17/3/2021 08:35 | But falling back quite quickly - might be adding after all. Gap above and below current level. | imastu pidgitaswell
17/3/2021 08:23 | Certainly good news for the share price, I don't remember HL ever issuing an unscheduled trading update before... | ochs
17/3/2021 08:05 | "The Group has continued to see elevated volumes of share dealing since the end of January with an increased proportion of these directed towards international equities, driven by interest in US stocks from existing clients. As a result, the Group now expects Profit Before Tax for the financial year ending 30 June 2021 (on a post-Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) levy basis) to be modestly above the top end of analyst expectations(1) ." "What we haven't done is anything to improving our systems, people or basically stuff involving spending money. So we're making more money." Which is why I hold their shares despite my dissatisfaction as a client. But should have bought more... | imastu pidgitaswell
16/3/2021 18:18 | Ochs..... or as I said earlier - we have new owners! With a big shareholder offloading stock a potential predator could be pushing on a half-open door. | ygor705
16/3/2021 08:20 | Agree, I think HL will be some way down the track, you'd think Link and Woodford himself would come first. Interesting that LD have already started suing Link, I didn't know that. I would expect anything against HL to be very hard to prove as HL's compliance on non-advisory is pretty robust... however I think the market sees it as a risk and the shares may not fully re-rate until there is confirmation that no legal action is going to take place (or there's some kind of out of court settlement). | ochs |
