(Yes, I got that - but how do you contact them?!)

I mean it's great as I have a quite a few of these - but when the bloody thing is failing, you might expect otherwise.

It is apparently an LSE problem, so they are all down. But getting through by phone is impossible.

I finally managed to get in to be presented with :-

"At present, we are unable to display any investments for your account. Please contact us to get a valuation or to place a deal".

Indeed ... and it coincides with the day they take your monthly contributions ... be 'interesting' if they manage to mess that up as well. In theory they shouldn't- but stranger things have happened- including with a man called Woodford ...

Another triumph for the HL IT department ! Never the strongest part of their organisation.

As the platform (which was holding up well until 10 minutes or so ago) fails, the share price rises...

Go figure.

A lot less dealing info on the site, I have found the staff when moving my accounts from them to iweb to be complete cretins, took aeons and loads of errors. I think the HL biz’ best days are behind it, a lot of comp on the way and the Woodford saga still to roll, I don’t think they have much of a case, people don’t have to follow HL’s chronic advice, their buy list should be called the “ poverty 50 “, absolute dross, but the drip drip of bad news will weigh on share price along with ftse being 15 pc below where it was 15 years ago, chronic. As I said, a trading stock. Picked up a few but stick to Apple and Microsoft and S&P trackers to sleep at night.

Good spot re broker views. They would have paid for reprinting such advice. And the last thing they want is suckers choosing shares. We are all supposed ot put the money in multi manager, multi fee HL funds where dealing is delayed by at least 2 days. Presumably they net out the trades and pocket the profits

Good points jubberjim... they removed broker views (for individual shares) a number of months ago and have so far not replaced them with anything else. Recent trades and buy/sell percentage also went some time ago without replacement.

I totally disagree
I have been a customer since late 2017

In that time information that was invaluable to a novice investor such as myself has been done away with
ie brokers views and trades as they were happening
The telephone manner is still very pleasant when you have a query but the prices shown sometimes bear no relation to actual real time prices
The service once so good is now terrible

Needs to be a vast improvement before I would be tempted to invest
And with an increasingly nervous group of investors I see very limited upside as people sit on their hands and let the hedge funds and bona fide funds get on with it
I have taken a position in various shares and will go with my decision win or lose

The woodford was less than 1pc of their sales and profits. This is a screaming BUY, read the rport by credit suisse recently that showed HL as the most profitable family owned business in europe. What more needs to be said? In 2020 they did a smart divesture of fundslibrary and sold it for a high price. Brilliant management. At less than 14£ this stock is sell yr golf clubs, sell your cartier, take your childs money too and BUY THE STOCK

See if it puts a higher low in place during this plunge - always a good sign. No great volumes either, also a good sign.

I would be adding around here, maybe not yet, but soon - but I see a lot of other stuff too - a question of which one, and when.

Yes, if the DOW keeps dropping it could easily drop further, but that should provide an excellent entry point for longer term bargain hunters.

I think it would be, for all of the reasons further given back in the thread, if only the world didn't appear to be ending...

It does seem to be relatively strong, the past couple of days. But still down. Which sounds like some sort of positive?
