17/6/2022 13:01 | People keep posting that HL's cheap, but is it really? Fwd p/e about 15 I reckon, tho not sure what their tax rate is. Market falls are going to be hitting AUM. Certainly "cheap" compared to previous lofty rating. | spectoacc
16/6/2022 20:09 | I just think it’s market conditions affecting this but I’m no expert. Hopefully, it will pick up eventually…pat | amateurinvester
16/6/2022 13:37 | If and when the Dow hits the 30000 target Hang on to your wallets and everything else for the oncoming maelstrom Be lucky we will need it | jubberjim
16/6/2022 12:33 | % charge, and less money getting added to buy more - ie volumes, for both. Meanwhile, they're "investing" £175m. HL aren't going to go bust, but if this is the start of the bear market, profits and margins are going to contract, & the shares are a value trap.. | spectoacc
16/6/2022 12:19 | People forget that most of HL's revenue and profit isn't based on 'volumes' - they still make huge amounts of money from unit trust & OEIC funds that investors simply leave sitting in their accounts - it's the annual charge, which HL levy monthly - so clearly it will fluctuate with market falls & rises, however it is still pretty reliable. BoE base rate rise today (0.25%) is good for HL and all the cash they hold - if it had been a 0.5% rise the shares might have had more of a boost. | ochs
16/6/2022 11:49 | And you still wouldn't. Wonder what the bear market is going to do to investment volumes. | spectoacc
16/6/2022 10:11 | Relentless falling!! | privileged
14/6/2022 18:51 | Will hang on now until Thursday the markets will follow the fed decision but prefer now to hang on until after the BOE publish their decision re rates on Thursday If i miss the move up won t be too dismayed but i do not want to be caught on the way down with no wherewithal Things are hotting up in more ways than one Good luck Was looking again at SMT but again will see how the far east reacts overnight before jumping in again if at all Cash is my friend at the moment Good luck all | jubberjim
14/6/2022 14:23 | Personally I'm finding the markets very exciting and fascinating at the moment - the volatility provides the excitement. US PPI for May just came in at 10.8% (10.9% expected) so has given the market a small boost ahead of US open at 2:30. | ochs
14/6/2022 13:00 | Waiting waiting waiting Oh the pain I am feeling at this moment and the boredom I have levels I am willing to buy at but for that to happen the markets need to move and they are moribund at the moment I am getting together a care package hair conditioner and restorer and some knitting needles and wool to keep my head warm cos I m ripping my hair out at moment due to prolonged boredom Hopefully some excitement later in week in aftermath of fed but not holding my breath Going to cut the grass now purely medicinal Good luck keep sane | jubberjim
14/6/2022 10:48 | Ochs you've got to think the upside is >> downside at these levels. As you say is 777p or a bit lower possible.. Of course it is. But so is a takeout or recovery in the mid teens | privileged
14/6/2022 10:46 | I've jumped in for a few more at 783p this morning. Clearly the way things are with the markets they could still go lower. 828p (low from Oct 2014) may now act as a short term resistance. | ochs
13/6/2022 18:55 | People must be muggs to sell assets this low. We get it, there's a recession but after that it'll be back...I have found that markets only ever look forward 6-9 months which is poor really ... | growthpotential
13/6/2022 15:07 | They've lost their way a bit tho. Lack of investment in service, loss of reputation with endless Woodford ramping. Belated £175m investment plans that cost shareholders their special divi, and much of that to improve the wealth management service. Unconvinced that's where HL's advantages lie. Higher interest rates should help them, & agree they're not going away, but feels like HL's best days (and best margins) are behind it. Agree they're not expensive, but no end of bargains out there atm. | spectoacc
13/6/2022 14:56 | Specto. It is stupidly cheap though at these levels. People will still be saving and pension contributions may increase with wage inflation etc.ROCE well over 50% now I think and good div. Someone will buy them if it stays down here too long. | privileged
13/6/2022 14:46 | Not going to be nearly as much market activity in a bear market as during a boom. Daft really - days like this are the time to be punting. Not on HL tho, not for me yet :) | spectoacc
13/6/2022 14:40 | 800p is broken. Not a good sign. | action
12/6/2022 12:06 | Yeah, that’s what I meant. I was doing well until I bought these shares! I cannot understand why they are so low when the company have no debt and a steady increase in profits even prior to Covid. I use HL for my share account and they are fine. I am holding dividend payments for now in my ISA share account and if others are holding money hopefully HL will gain from the interest from this money. | amateurinvester
10/6/2022 19:02 | You mean 52 week low. With US CPI now up to 8.6% it's not surprising that all markets fell today, including HL. The only consolation for HL is that higher interest rates should mean a better return on the cash HL holds themselves and on behalf of clients. A further 0.25% rise is expected from the BoE next Thursday (16 June). HL are also debt free - a big advantage as rates rise. | ochs
10/6/2022 17:21 | 52 year low. I don’t think their figures are that bad. Hopefully we just need patience like a previous poster has said and some good news from HL! | amateurinvester
