20/7/2018 13:00 | Good Luck- kexius. I think GVC has just started, it has a lot of legs, I may reduce my holding at £20 per share. | shayadfn
20/7/2018 11:46 | Starting to show a little bit of form commensurate with a strong update and heightened targets | noujay
20/7/2018 11:08 | Sold my entire holding this morning, although I believe it still has some legs in the near term. Unfortunately my fixed term mortgage expires soon and I want to pay a chunk off, so the bank manager awaits. Good luck GVCers. I'll be back :) | kexicus
20/7/2018 10:58 | Good bounce back this morning. | mylands
19/7/2018 19:07 | Another thought, Kenny doesn't tend to take prisoners - so I wouldn't be surprised to see a share buy-back programme announced to add to the hedgies' misery. | maddox
19/7/2018 11:11 | Shay/Maddox Agreed, 1100p might be a limit level that will be difficult to breach unless there is further news, and the one thing I do know is our CEO is always on the lookout for a good deal. My bet is on the US being where something might happen. With the company now a big player, it must be attractive for one of the big US players to do a JV/tie-up of some sorts, or maybe be even a merger/takeover, who knows? | mylands
19/7/2018 09:13 | Maddox, I agree with you, the share price will possibly go up and down, between now and sept, when the 1st qtr results will come out, and possibly a divi, the hedge funds will engineer the share price to drop, which will be an opportunity to buy. | shayadfn
18/7/2018 23:19 | Interesting that the shares closed 17p (1.54%) down on what looks like very good results – despite the many distractions not least the Ladbrook’s integration. It would have been very easy to have dropped the ball on this one but Kenny and Team have an exemplary record on deal execution. Mr Market appears unimpressed - but I am. There are a few Hedge Funds stubbornly holding onto to their short positions that might be trying to recover some ground by trying to negatively influence reaction to this trading update. However, the nice thing to remember about shorters is that sooner or later they are going to be buyers in the market. They are already sitting on hefty loss positions. As of today, the reported positions amount to 5.72% of GVC equity. It's going to be quite a squeeze when they finally capitulate. So I'm taking the bit of spare cash I have available to take advantage of the liquidity the nice Hedgies are providing, and topping-up in advance of the squeeze. Regards Maddox | maddox
18/7/2018 13:05 | The update looks good.I'm always cautious with companies grow exponentially through acquisition. History is littered with those who stretched finances or the truth a little too far. Sometimes they simply got their timing wrong. | nod
18/7/2018 12:26 | Given that this was a H1 update and the World Cup only finished as few days ago Q3 will also benefit from World Cup wagers. | jeff h
18/7/2018 12:24 | nice upgrade they now have the scale to really hammer home their advantage GVC are the big winners in online gaming now | trentendboy
18/7/2018 11:21 | Thanks Logan, would be nice to see some progress towards it over the next few weeks. The underlying business looks to be trading strongly (ex-WC) so its a very muted response today. Yes ok it probably needs to consolidate a bit around 11 but nonetheless the initial action was surprising. The interims should offer the first rounded look at where the business is and how plans are coming together | noujay
18/7/2018 11:13 | On the back of to days update, Numis have set a target price of 1376p on GVC. | loganair
18/7/2018 10:08 | Bouncing back now. I dont subscribe to the dodgy MM's theory. It has too many MM's for all collude and big liquidity thus the potential for them to get their fingers burnt. My suspicion is that its an attempted shorting attack. We know there is some short of the stock who are losing a fortune. Maybe they though that this update is all the good news out of the way for a while and thus had a concerted mini shorting attack. If so then I'm delighted to see that they are now likely adding to their loses. Domestic football starts 4th August and thus the next bookies bonanza is almost upon us. | brownie69
18/7/2018 09:49 | Continued online growth and a World Cup betting splurge keep the FTSE 100 gambling group on track to meet full-year expectations A “positive̶ Bookies tend to make more money when the favourites don’t win. Although eventual winners France were one of the fancied pre-tournament teams, a number of others, including Spain and Germany, crashed out early on. England’s semi-final exit is also expected to have helped as the wave of positive sentiment which swept the nation following the Three Lions’ first few performances likely encouraged more punters to back their home team. Net gaming revenue (NGR) at GVC, which owns Ladbrokes and Coral, climbed 8% in the six months through to June 30. Online NGR growth was particularly impressive, jumping 18% year-on-year thanks to some high-profile marketing campaigns. Falling footfall on UK high streets has hit betting shops over the past couple of years and UK retail like-for-like NGR were down 3% compared to the same period a year ago. European retail NGR rose by 29%. “The World Cup tournament as a whole has been a good one for the group, helped by a better than expected gross win margin but also importantly volumes and value of new customer deposits,” read Wednesday’s statement. “UK retail trends improved in the second quarter as the weather proved less disruptive than in the first quarter, while growth in European retail remained very strong, albeit helped by a soft comparative.” Chief executive Kenneth Alexander added that he was “pleased” | loganair
18/7/2018 08:34 | Some profit needed to be taken at £11.No share keeps going in one direction. | garycook
18/7/2018 08:30 | There was a strong run up to the interimsShould steady around 1100 | trentendboy
18/7/2018 08:24 | Bounce back under way now 1080p. Just don't understand the dip. Based on my reading of the trading update this deserves to end the day in positive territory. | brownie69
18/7/2018 08:24 | Whoops repeat post deleted | brownie69
18/7/2018 08:24 | Surely a buying opportunity? Trading Update looks great to me, accelerating growth, no caution for H2 yet the mark down is significant. Even retail has been OK. I'm fully invested otherwise I'd be buying. | brownie69
18/7/2018 08:21 | Definite buying opportunity. Typical 'sell on the news' reaction after the rise to over 1100p. | mylands
18/7/2018 08:20 | -4% ?! Have added a few to my holding | mister md
18/7/2018 08:20 | Not sure exactly what was expected but I am surprised at the initial response first thing | noujay
18/7/2018 08:14 | MM games, down 3% and widest spread I've seen for a while. Time for coffee break. | fizzypop |
