PLUS holders, well done.

My current biggest holding after GVC is GAN where I am in at an average of 41p. Looking for a big uplift to 100p in the next year with the opening up of the US, following the Supreme Court PAPSA ruling.

Yes a great stock, hugely cash generative big dividends. Lots of swings attached too. I was in between c.1150-1625 which was a great run - should have stayed!!

Have others watched, as I have, the stratospheric rise in PLUS500? In April it was around £10, now it's £19.75. Why, oh why, didn't in buy some??

I'm a big fan of the GVC betting platform and have been in and out of the shares many times over the years. Am currently out and watching - mainly as a result of the Ladbroke Coral acquisition. LC had quite a stretched balance sheet and the William Hill results demonstrated that the new betting regulations have led to significant impairment charges on the High Street estate. LC cannot be immune from that trend and I am waiting for the next GVC results before considering re-entry.

Looks like William Hill will give GVC tough competition with their US expansion plans....

I agree with you ,Mylands, I have been adding to the current highest amount I have ever held, I intend to add another approx. 10k before the H1 figures come out. Some of you may know, I'm always looking of opportunities to add, to my already large haul.

The figures for shorting GVC show the exact opposite to what posters are implying. We are at the lowest level, 2,07%, of shorters that I have ever seen. All the main shorters, except for three, have reduced their positions to below 0.5%.

No, I am inclined to think that the stellar climb to 1180p, albeit briefly, was always going to have a period of trackback and consolidation at these new high levels. It was exactly a year ago when we were trading not far above 750p, so we have seen a rise of nigh on 50%! At the beginning of April we were at the 900p level, giving a rise of 24% since then. What more do punters expect??

I'm keeping some of my powder dry to buy at the end of this week and next week, H1 figures out on 13th Sept- I'll probably be buy running towards this date. I suspect the shorters will try and get it down below £11.00.

They should be updating the market about NJ shortly as I understood it from the conference call, and presumably when they go live in various other states

I suspect the shorters case might have been strengthened by the fact that it will take round about 2 years for the joint venture to break even and there will probably be little newsflow in the intervening period.Fine by me..I will keep adding at every opportune moment.

Sure, points taken. Scepticism probably wrong use of word.
As a PI I can short naked in US (options) markets but not in UK.
Don't know anything about MMs in UK.

Also I believe market makers ( someone might be able to correct me on this) are allowed to indulge in naked shorting under certain circumstances

The shorting is not IMO because of scepticism it is opportunism to short when trading is lightJust because shortraker shows shares out on loan doesn't IMO mean they have been sold into the market. The borrower bides their time waiting for an opportunity to cause a big move in the sp

It's really some sluggish volumes at the moment but despite that am surprised it's given back so much after the announcement last week

It's a notably shorted stock.
As far as I recall there have always been shorts (sceptics) on this stock hence the sell-offs whenever it makes a good bullish move.

Here are the current positions on short tracker:

MGM Resorts is trying to become the go-to place for sports betting -- and not only in Las Vegas, but nationwide. A recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling opened up sports betting across the country, and that in turn has created opportunities for online betting and in-person wagers on games across the country.

The biggest move announced this week was a partnership with the NBA that will allow MGM to use the league's data and images in its wagering. It's possible that this will become a relationship that gives MGM a big lead in sports betting nationwide.

Laying the groundwork for sports betting:

Before it could make its play to become a sports betting powerhouse, MGM needed to fill some gaps in its business. One key move was to expand the number of jurisdictions where it could offer sports betting, which it did with a partnership with Boyd Gaming Corporation that allows betting where either company has a gaming presence.

MGM says the deal with Boyd creates a path to offering online and mobile sports betting in 15 states. But that was just the start of its strategic moves.

MGM also launched a 50/50 joint venture with GVC Holdings PLC to "create a world-class sports betting and online gaming platform in the United States." This will allow dynamic sports betting on games like professional basketball across the country.

MGM lands a big NBA deal:

The Boyd and GVC deals were really precursors to a partnership with the NBA and WNBA, which was announced Tuesday. Here was a key line from the press release announcing the deal:

"As part of the partnership, MGM Resorts will use official NBA and WNBA data and branding, on a non-exclusive basis, across MGM Resorts' land-based and digital sports betting offerings throughout the United States"

Data may not sound like a big deal in this partnership, but MGM will be able to expand betting options with access to this data. Customers can bet on things like the shooting percentage of a player, points in a quarter, assists, number of passes in a game, and a multitude of other items. Expanding the number and type of bets players can make and bringing them to regional and mobile platforms will give MGM Resorts a huge leg up in sports betting.

NBA and WNBA branding will also make the MGM betting platforms look more official for players. That could be a differentiator for MGM in competitive markets like Las Vegas, where small differentiations can be meaningful.

Getting to the NBA first is good, but may not be a lasting differentiation for MGM Resorts if it doesn't gather a critical mass of sports betting customers quickly.

MGM wants to be a sports betting giant:

The three partnerships announced this week lay the groundwork for MGM Resorts to become a big sports betting business. Not only will it be big in Las Vegas, but it could also be a favorite for mobile betting given its large geographic reach and partnership with Boyd Gaming. If anyone is going to be a big player in sports betting, MGM Resorts is as good a bet as any.

Mylands. Having read the article you found on James Murren , I am even more excited than I was about the USA deal. Kenny and James must the strongest duo in the business. Couple that with a phenomenal potential market and the likelihood of a leading market share makes me salivate about the prospects for GVC's share price in the next 5-10 years. My problem is going to be the temptation to take big profits as GVC continues to grow as a % of my portfolio.
