21/11/2002 17:51 | Hotei - brave man on AVZ. I was sorely tempted, but will wait. Still think a pullback will occur, but the little amount of late Bloomberg I've been catching recently reckons the US funds are itching to buy. They got an excuse with some decent results last night, but I still think their economy is shot. Unfortunately it doesn't stop them. I guess the next level is S&P in the 960-965 range. That's where that long term H&S completed and was retested by the August rally. It'll take something to take that out. Meanwhile I lick my wounds once more. Poor day CFD, but good day S/B. Overall slightly down (again!) | big al 39
21/11/2002 17:43 | Tony - know exactly how you feel. Since about a month ago when I proudly announced I'd made back all losses over the previous 22 months (a gain of about £14k from a low), I am right back at that low, plus the opportunity cost of very little earnings over the period. Feeling my judgement gone all to pot (now there's a thought!)- or is it that chance plays some cruel tricks with us? The one achievement over the last month is stopping smoking again (mmm, is there a connection I wonder?). I can identify all sorts of trading style errors - too big deal sizes, not cutting losses early enough, not going with the flow quickly enough, but when it comes to it, plain old bad judgement. Seems to be a fair bit of it about. Just have to take these reversals philosophically - though toying with the idea of going back to a 'proper' job. Certainly next time (there's optimism), I get the pot back up, will take some of it out and keep playing with the smaller amount, rather than risk giving it all back. Funnily enough, the one account that has consistently grown in 6 mths (up over 100% with 70 trades) is my ISA, just plain long buying low and selling higher. | forwood
