“All Hell Will Break Loose”: Trump warns Hamas, hints at US military action.

2025-01-08

Shafaq News/ US President-elect Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Hamas, declaring that “all hell will break loose” if hostages taken during the October 8, 2023, attack in southern Israel are not released by the time he takes office on January 20.

“If they’re not back by the time I get into office, all hell will break out in the Middle East, and it will not be good for Hamas, and it will not be good, frankly, for anyone,”

Trump’s rhetoric has sparked speculation about a more aggressive US posture in the Middle East, raising questions about the impact of his hardline stance as he prepares to assume office for a second term.

"Cheers Habshan my mistake."

Don't know what mistake you're referring to C_G, and many thanks for posting it.

Scouring the internet and posting stuff up is always good. Anything that might help us see through the fog and join up some dots is always welcome.

Keep it up.

Indeed, good point, although some of these translations can be a bit hit and miss with dates.

It's also the case that we knew nothing about the court case until Sudani mentioned the ruling in parliament so we may not be told whether or not the MoO have appealed either.

Let's hope that when the 30 days IS up we get some sort of announcement.

I don't see much point in them appealing because they would be going against the ruling of the London Court of Arbitration which is where the whole sorry mess would end up.

And as that court has already ruled in favour of the Kurds then Baghdad would lose.

And Baghdad knows that.

This text makes it sound like the decision was made on the 18th November and announced as final on the 18th December, 30 days after the original decision. If so no appeal was triggered and the decision is final.

Hi C_G, it's from last month, we are still waiting to see if the ruling will be appealed by the MoO, if they don't appeal within 30 days the case will be closed, but in a video that Kev posted up yesterday, Myles Caggins stated that the court had ruled the contracts valid and we already know that the London Court of Arbitration has ruled them and the 2007 Kurdish Oil & Gas Law valid and in accordance with the Iraqi constitution.

22nd Dec. 2024.

The Karkh court in Baghdad has rejected the annulment of the contracts of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) oil companies.

Prepared by Bzhar Zuber for Rudaw

International oil companies operating in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) have won a major legal victory in Baghdad after the Karkh Court of Appeal rejected a request by the Iraqi Oil Ministry and quashed previous court decisions nullifying contracts between the companies and the Kurdistan Regional Government.

According to the Iraqi Oil Report, the Karkh Court of Appeal issued the decision on November 18, ending the legal campaign of the Iraqi Oil Ministry against nine companies, including; Adax, Dana Gas, DNO, Gazprom Neft, Ganal Energy, Gulf Keystone, HKN, Shamaran and Western Zagros.

The Karkh court ruled that the contracts between the companies and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) are legal, although the contracts are based on legal principles that the Iraqi Supreme Court in February 2022 declared unconstitutional.

The Iraqi Oil Ministry began filing a lawsuit in May 2022 to cancel the Kurdistan Region's oil contracts, shortly after the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court ruled.

In July and October 2022, the Karkh court issued a number of decisions to annul the contracts of Adax, Genel Energy, Gulf Keystone, HKN Energy, Shamaran and Western Zagros, but there was no public decision for Dana Gas and Gazprom Neft.

After that, the Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Natural Resources filed an appeal, which was finally decided this year.

In August and September, the Karkh Court of Appeal rejected previous decisions. After that, the Iraqi Oil Ministry once again appealed to the court to nullify the contracts. After several delays, the court met in November.

On November 18, the Karkh Court of Appeal issued nine decisions on each company's case, rejecting the Iraqi Oil Ministry's request to nullify the contracts.

But the Karkh Court of Appeal's decision will not end the headaches of the oil companies.

Although the decision ends a specific legal issue, it does not mean that the government and federal agencies will support the Kurdistan Region's oil contracts. Because the contracts were made based on the 2007 Kurdistan Regional Government Oil and Gas Law, a law that is considered null and void by the Federal Supreme Court.

Therefore, the oil contracts of the Kurdistan Region are returning to political and legal turmoil. That is, the contracts are not null and void, but the Iraqi Oil Ministry can say they do not comply with Iraqi law.

The November 18 decision coincides with political efforts to resume Kurdistan oil exports by pipeline to Turkey.

In November, the Iraqi federal government approved a proposal to amend the budget law and allocate additional money to Kurdistan oil contract holders to start extracting oil and selling it through the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO).

The amendment met with some opposition in the Iraqi parliament. The parliament went into recess before giving it a second reading or vote. Second reading of the amendment has been delayed until at least next month.

Can't figure out if this is the rejected 'appeal of the appeal' or just very late reporting 🤷🏻

The Karkh court in Baghdad denies breaking the contracts of oil companies in Kurdistan Region

Any better Gaz?

Getting the muck to shift is quite a task. With water in its veins, it's no small ask. Why folks purchase this, it's hard to see; A pity, really, such a mystery.

The stock's about to plummet, mark my word, But wait, another year has just occurred. Local sales, they keep on climbing high, As we watch the snowflakes drift by.

Dividends and buybacks might come your way, But I've lost my shirt, what can I say?I'll keep on ranting for my fun and cheer, For a master who won't let me disappear.

smokeytop - Modern poetry where today's poets don't seem to think that rhyming is important does nothing for me but I think that what you have produced there is absolutely brilliant.

We need a new Poet Laureate and you're the man.

In the crown of Kurdistan, bright,
Shines Shaikan, with its hidden might,
A jewel encased in earth's embrace,
Where fracture porosity sets the pace.

Beneath the folds of ancient land,
The limestone's secrets firmly stand,
A tale of oil, in fractures bound,
A treasure where few have found.

Shaikan, where the cracks do tell,
Of paths where liquid riches dwell,
A network, intricate and fine,
Where oil in silent streams does shine.

But this jewel, so rich, so rare,
Is sought by those who dare to care,
For power, wealth, and control,
The battle for this field does roll.

Gulf Keystone holds its claim,
Guarding this wealth, fame, and name,
Yet others covet what they see,
In this land of strife and tree.

The porosity, like veins of gold,
Whispers tales of times untold,
But each extraction, each new well,
Stirs the pot where tensions swell.

Political strife, and corporate might,
Dance around this field's fierce light,
A contest of wills, of strength, of plan,
In Kurdistan's heart, this jewel of man.

So here they fight, for what lies deep,
In the fractured rock where secrets keep,
Shaikan, a symbol, a battleground,
Where the oil's course and conflict are found.
