And then:-

From the RNS of 19/7/12.

"The revised gross oil-in-place volumes for the Shaikan field, as calculated by Dynamic Global Advisors (DGA), independent, Houston-based exploration consultants, are a P90 value of 12.4 billion barrels to a P10 value of 15 billion barrels of oil-in-place, with a mean value of 13.7 billion barrels."

"This upgrade is based on the data acquired since the last resource evaluation of the Shaikan discovery by DGA issued in November 2011 and is the fourth successive upward revision by DGA since the Shaikan discovery was announced in August 2009."

"This upgrade represents a much tighter distribution of the Shaikan gross oil-in-place volumes, with the P90 value having increased by 4.4 billion barrels.

In the space of six months, Shaikan's P90 estimate has increased by 4.4 billion barrels of gross oil-in-place, just one billion barrels short of the previous P10 estimate in November 2011. Such results are rarely heard of in the industry today and we are still to explore the deeper Triassic and Permian horizons..."

"This success is both a function of the field, which is a giant by any measure, and of the team we have in place, both on the ground and in the Company's offices..."

Oilman - "The report hasn't been public because Robert Waterhouse launched a campaign against the company to release it."

So it hasn't been public?

All you have to do is Google "Ryder Scott Shaikan" and up it comes.

Why would the company not have wanted it released?

GKP commissioned it to validate and dispel any doubt about the DGA report which it did, and it was then discussed widely in the media.

"Gulf Keystone: City analysts react positively to Ryder Scott’s assessment of Shaikan oil discovery."

"The latest assessment of Gulf Keystone Petroleum’s massive Iraq oil discovery has silenced those who doubted Shaikan’s 1.9 to 7.4 billion barrel oil-in-place estimate. Ryder Scott, a major US oil consultancy, has come up with its own assessment that arrived at broadly similar estimates.

The City’s analysts reckon Gulf Keystone (LON:GKP) has answered its critics with the latest assessment of the Shaikan oil discovery in the autonomous Kurdistan region of northern Iraq.

Shaikan-1 found oil in five reservoir levels, from 1,450 metres through to 2,850 metres. Gulf Keystone had Dynamic Global Advisers (DGA) assess the Shaikan-1 results and it subsequently came up with gross oil-in-place estimates that ranged from 1.9 to 7.4 billion barrels (P90 - P10).

Fox-Davies analyst Lionel Therond said: “There had been questions about the validity of the previous resources assessment by DGA, Ryder Scott being a recognised name we would hope this will settle the argument.”

THIS MORNING GKP UNVEILED THE FINDINGS of the separate third party assessment of Shaikan.

The study was carried out by a more widely known and respected industry group, Ryder Scott. It is broadly comparable to Gulf Keystone’s own estimate and as such it reinforces the potential size of world class Shaikan oil discovery.

Ryder Scott put Shaikan’s total petroleum-initially-in-place (PIIP) resources at 1.52 (P90) to 7.52 (P10) billion barrels of oil, with a mean of 4.04 billion barrels."

"We look forward to completing the Shaikan appraisal programme, including further testing of the Jurassic and Triassic intervals with the Shaikan-5 and -6 wells"

Based on where its located I'm surprised it still produces but they've been lucky.

"and incorporating all the new results into our independently audited gross oil-in-place estimates for the world-class Shaikan discovery"

I wonder how "independent" it really was?

"Deeper potential of the Triassic and Permian horizons will be tested with the Shaikan-7 exploration well in 2013.“

Oh dear, tried for the deeper zones and failed in the Jurassic. But haven't I mentioned that trying for those deeper zones are very risky and costly? I do believe I have.

Proving conclusively that dear old JG got it all very wrong or was he just "towing the Kozel party line" for trough replenishment?

And they've not tried for them in the past six years innit:-)

You had them all removed don't you remember ???

The report hasn't been public because Robert Waterhouse launched a campaign against the company to release it.

Remember he had 5000+ posts removed off the LSE 😱

If you want to score insignificant points on a blog by going back though old posts feel free.

David, I do have a lot of friends don't I.

Oilman - "So why was you posting on here and going mad about me having a copy and complaining to the company about me having inside information ???
You're words."

Now then Oilman.

It should be a simple matter for you to put up at least one of those posts so that we can all see what you're talking about.

Or are you hallucinating again.

And why did you just tell surreyscot that he hadn't seen that report when it's been out in the public domain for some 9 years.

"Have you seen a copy of the Ryder Scott report ???......no you haven't."

Which you have now edited to:-

"Have you seen a copy of the Ryder Scott report ???......not that it matters."

Better to engage your brain BEFORE hitting the keyboard Oilman, not AFTER.

Habshan, thanks for that, but the report we'd all like to see is CNPC? buyers DD on the field!Never to see light of day. No new CPR or FDP, all info will remain outside public domain, as a delisted subsidiary post sale, reporting requirements effectively zero! That's why no new CPR or FDP has appeared to date. Sold.

How about the mountain of data from the field since that report ???

Did it stop Todd getting the boot ???

Did it stop the restructuring and investor wipeout ???

Urals a pre agreed major buyback using unused debt facilities and or cash at hand is a capital structure recapitalisation. Both announcement s could come together, and an SGM to vote through the sale.no vote necessary for the buyback however.Got authority for that at last AGM.

They still wont have it that it was all ramped up for vested interests mcfly. They either must have forgotten or they never realised just who was "connected".

I see that PC is in a desperate mood and needs to bring out the BS from 7 years ago. Loads of testing at S6 PC, Evian were very interested at that time. Its a wonder S5 is still working. But how well?

PC, still this week for the takeaway? 5 years in the making, is it finally cooked yet?

IRAQ OIL AND GAS NEWS - JUNE 2012Gulf Keystone provided an update on Tuesday on its ongoing appraisal programme at the Shaikan block in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which is a major discovery with independently audited gross oil-in-place volumes of between 8 billion barrels to 13.4 billion barrels calculated on the P90 to P10 basis, with a mean value of 10.5 billion barrels. The Company has completed the drilling operations of the Shaikan-5 appraisal well, drilled 6 km to the north-east of the Shaikan-2 appraisal well. Shaikan-5 is the fourth well in the five-well appraisal programme, which has been drilled to evaluate the eastern culmination of the Shaikan structure. In May 2012, the well reached a total depth of 3,750 metres in the Kurre Chine Dolomite formation in the Triassic, which is the deepest horizon drilled by a Shaikan well to date.Extensive logs and core acquired during the Shaikan-5 drilling operations have further enhanced the Company's understanding of the reservoir and its fracture system. Results obtained in the Jurassic interval indicated a continuous oil column with approximately 237 metres of net pay, and porosities which are consistent with results obtained elsewhere in the field, most recently with the Shaikan-4 appraisal well.Good hydrocarbon saturations were calculated throughout the Jurassic interval where fracture intensity appears to be comparable to or exceed those seen in other Shaikan wells. Oil shows were also recorded whilst drilling in the Triassic formation.Work is underway to evaluate these preliminary results, and further testing of the prolific Jurassic reservoir and the Triassic interval is being considered once a work-over rig is available to move to the Shaikan-5 location. Following the completion of the well testing programme, Shaikan-5 will be completed as a Jurassic producer and tied to the Company's second Extended Well Test facility (EWT-2), which is currently under construction.John Gerstenlauer (pictured), Gulf Keystone's Chief Operating Officer commented:"These solid preliminary results obtained with the Shaikan-5 appraisal well confirm the massively prolific nature of the Jurassic interval of the Shaikan structure. We look forward to completing the Shaikan appraisal programme, including further testing of the Jurassic and Triassic intervals with the Shaikan-5 and -6 wells, and incorporating all the new results into our independently audited gross oil-in-place estimates for the world-class Shaikan discovery. Deeper potential of the Triassic and Permian horizons will be tested with the Shaikan-7 exploration well in 2013."
