A comparison against Shaikan, on the current CPR numbers, is perhaps worthwhile. Shaikan 2P Reserves 622 million barrels 2C Resources 239 million barrels 2P + 2C = 861 million barrels Tawke 2P Reserves 504 million barrels 2C Resources 100 million barrels 2P + 2C = 604 million barrels This confirms what John Hurst the former head of exploration at BP said: "Shaikan is second only to Kirkuk" in Kurdistan. Shaikan is of course only at an early ("Phase Zero") stage of development, and the Tawke production is significantly higher, having produced 39 million barrels last year. Shaikan is running at about one-third of that level because no development work has been done since the current facilities were installed some years ago. | oil_investor | |
