Major High Street banks usually take circa 5+ working days before dividend distribution, but bear in mind that some of them have a 10 working day SLA timeline.

They are a bit frantic today. And they wouldn't flag the buyback in advance as it might make the setting of the VWAP a bit more tricky. That's what's going on right now (imo) although there might be a few shorts going the wrong way too. :-)
