The story I was given K4 is that the CPR will be "updated" when "certain parties" have had enough time to top up with cheap shares. Make of that what you will.

Re the much-trumpeted Matrix contribution.

Stafford’s statement is true (fluids will be contributed by the Matrix once fracture pressures fall enough) the contribution, though pressure driven, will be governed not only by the porosity but by the permeability (…and the temperature, viscosity, pressure, pressure difference to the fractures, how rapidly those tiny flow paths clog up, etc.).

In respect of the Cretaceous intervals, ERCE said:
“Matrix porosity is generally in the range from 0% to 22% with permeability generally ranging between <0.01 and 50md.”
In view of the Cretaceous oil viscosity, that 50md permeability will almost certainly not be enough to flow commercially and will require additional help / enhanced recovery measures.

In respect of the Jurassic, they said:
“Matrix porosity generally ranges from 0% to 15% with permeability from cores varying between <0.01 and 1md, with occasional intervals up to 700md.”

Re the Jurassic intervals at Shaikan, rock permeability of <0.01 md will not flow without significant additional measures.
Permeability of 1md is very tight – and will not be commercially exploitable without further stimulation / fracturing / enhanced recovery measures.
Those “occasional221; intervals showing 700md permeability will of course flow very nicely (caveats: pressure, pressure delta, temperature, viscosity) – but these intervals/ areas / volumes have not yet been properly quantified as far as I can see.

The Triassic intervals are anyone’s guess at this time...

K4N4K yeah and rumour is they haven't found Nessie yet either 🤣 🤣 🤣

apparently the REAL experts have been saying the 'expanse of water' (sic) is too great for that 😉

anyway I'm sure its all a 'relevant drop in the ocean' (no pun intended) if you were to ask some of our once upon a time so called exiled believers 🤡

TPI - Bhurj khalifa now please! That's only the Jurassic too. Billions in the Cretaceous, lighter oil in the Triassic and we've not had a decent poke at the Permian for ages. What's not to like?! (Plenty, by the looks of it...)

More from John Stafford:-

"What's happening is that as we draw oil out of the fractures the pressure is falling which is a good thing because we then have lower pressure fractures sitting against high pressure matrix which maximises recovery as it allows oil to flow out of the matrix into the fractures as the reservoir pressure drops over the years and from where it will be pumped to the surface.

Remember there's 1km of oil in Shaikan, I've never worked with anything remotely like it. It's world class."

Mac, what you say is one of the main issues that the clueless rampers either don't understand or desperately continue to deny. hab SHAM's responses to my posts again yesterday is conclusive proof.

"Habshan the wells are choked at 2 inches I seem to rememeber . Otherwise they'd be going at 10 K a day - but the matrix needs to drain nice and slow."

Morning Nest.

As we know, wells are choked for many reasons including that you can't just let the wells produce at full throttle or you'd wreck the field, it needs to be controlled, and you need to control the pressure downstream in order to keep the system stable.

This is what John Stafford said about the matrix when he was talking about the CPR:-

"As you know Shaikan is a reservoir with lots of fractures and with lots of oil in the matrix, there's about 7 times more oil in the matrix than there is in the fractures, so anything we can do to maximise recovery from the matrix has a big incremental gain. We see the potential of matrix recovery adding hugely to the profile in the future. The current CPR 2p numbers are only talking about drawing oil from the fractures."

It all needs to be very carefully managed and chokes are a crucial part of that.

And for all of that to work optimally the wells need to be worked over periodically, have the right size tubing and be kept clear of crud.

Baghdad Committed to Erbil Financial Deal Until 2021 Budget Bill Approved
Basnews English 2020/11/11 - 17:08 Kurdistan

ERBIL — The Iraqi Federal Government will remain committed to its agreement to provide 320 billion Iraqi Dinar to the Kurdistan Regional Government as part of its budget share until the budget law of 2021 is passed by the parliament, the government’s spokesperson said.

“The agreement is active, and it will remain intact until the 2021 budget is approved,” Ahmed Mala Talal told reporters on Tuesday.

Erbil and Baghdad have long been in constant negotiations to address their oil and budgetary disputes. As part of a prompt response to the financial crisis on both the sides, the federal government is providing 320 billion Iraqi Dinar to Erbil, which helps the regional government to manage salary payments.

Iraq, Saudi Arabia Sign Several Strategic Deals
BasNews 2020/11/12 - 01:19 Iraq

ERBIL - Iraq and Saudi Arabia have signed several agreements and MoUs worth tens of billions of dollars in various investment fields, a report said on Wednesday.

Asharq Al-Awsat cited a statement by the secretary-general of the Iraqi Council of Ministers as saying that Baghdad and Riyadh, during meetings held on Tuesday, expressed their willingness to invest an amount of 10 billion dollars to launch the projects to enhance joint cooperations in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemicals, phosphates, sulfur, energy, industry, agriculture, health and education.

Meanwhile, the two countries also agreed to reopen the Arar border crossing.

Saudi Ambassador to Iraq, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, revealed that a number of delegations from Saudi Arabia will visit Baghdad to hold meetings in hopes of exploring ways to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
