I am assuming they know the time line and other forth coming events . As ever just wait it out all will be revealed. I still expect a bumpy road even after all the BS we have had , this is after all the most highly prized field on the planet ATM .

"At Voleon, we approach investment management through the prism of machine learning, in which flexible statistical models are applied to the problem of financial prediction. Rather than having humans look at individual events within the marketplace, machine learning employs statistical algorithms capable of detecting persistent effects across large swaths of data."

Algorithms and machines run Voleon ? ..and there's me thinking that humans run the company

I still don't get it NOR. They still have to buy back the ones they've short sold. Unless their actions are causing others to sell, then they won't gain anything. Despite what the trades indicate, there appear to be more buyers than sellers out there. Including the Company itself ! Seems more likely to be that they gambled on a, normally predictable, drop post divi.As we can see, that didn't happen. That, in itself, indicates to me that some is stirring behind the scenes.

Volean know what they are worth and it's worth taking a hit and getting them cheap. If the people behind it are in the know maybe the acquirers then it's crazy not to.

Chinese if its the buyer that has awol 25-30% as toe hold, controls a friendly sale, similar effect .However given the orchestrated buyback etc to settle staff options on sale I tend to agree your thoughts. A proxy holds 25%or so. Company buys them in to be cancelled using excess cash, top 4 go to well over 50%Game over

That's because you rely on blogs for information.

That's what I can't quite get my head around. Why would anyone take out a short on a share where the Company are in buy back mode, and many institutions are adding. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Do Voleon care if they get a bit burnt if they are buying at the same time as shorting ?

That doesn't bother us as much as it seems to bother you, Muttley. But then we have the dividend to look forward to and you don't. :)

Voleon are having to compete with GKP to exit that short. That might cause a bit of fun and games over the next week or two.

MM's making the shorter pay higher to unwind it. Serves them right but it will take some time at this sort of volume. Do they have the luxury of allowing it go at this pace? Any corporate action will see them up the creek.
