I've never held shares close to the dividend date before (always bought and sold inbetween) so can someone please just confirm how this works for me (im not blonde, honest!). Basically, I bought into GSK this morning, so as I was probably in too late to qualify for dividend anyway, am I right in thinking that I am best to get shot of them by the end of the day, so that I do not lose out in the post div fall?
Many Thanks!

It's not too surprising the markets are in 'rally' mode, traders see the crisis, not as a genuine threat, but as an opportunity to make money from others over-reacting

This will be below £10 real soon

Excellent post Spondon:-

Spondon - 28 Apr'09 - 10:45 - 1461 of 1465

Lot of sector rotation from loonie high geared stocks like Debs, housebuilders, to quality defensives, check out BP you could have bought them for 4.20 about 10 days ago! Fund mangers are getting ready for the next big drop, dollar and yen strengthening as well, the market can't take any more rigged Enron style financial results, pathetic stress tests. There seems to be stories running around that the big cheeses on Wall street have been talking up the market not just to build confidence in a recovery but to hide their own greedy indiscretions, e.g. Paulson who despite inventing CDS's and personally making hundreds of millions eliminated a major Goldman competitor without congressional consent , Lehman's

Lucan - You don't know what you're talking about.

All the TA stuff looks great (I'm doing it 'live), the Prostate Cancer drug results have just been released and are very promising, we have an international crisis on our hands and GSK is a key player. But more importantly, I know many Senior GSK management lol ;-)

Where are your facts for any discussion please?
