Having only been in SHG for 12 months, I can't claim a multibagger. But very happy with the result nevertheless
.
Bought 1 million in the 11s, another post Odey in the 9s, sold after the bid in the 13s.

Plus a little beer money with the 350,000 bought after the bid announcement.

Applying the Maths that Zoo "learned" at school that adds up to a loss. QED.

Queue another insanely embarrassing post from Alan.....

PS

Also very happy with the 3 stocks bought with the proceeds.

I'm just going by your displayed demeanour. Bitter,
grumpy, hostile to any idea you have not had yourself.
And then of course there is your claim that others in
here have lost money on Shanta, despite their posts
about making money, and the wide ranging discussion
on the SHG forum of how there was a small but certain
gain to be had buying after the bid was successful,
That makes it clear that you failed to participate.

SHG was a real multibagger for me Rose
He has joined Alan in cuckoo land!

I bought back just shy of 750k after the bid went through and happily await the proceeds

Once again zoo slavers over imagined losses. Some may have
bought SHG at the wrong price and been caught out by the
buyout, but my sense is that none of the regulars here had
that misfortune. Those who bought after Odey probably did
well. It was even possible to make a quick few percent buying
after the bid was announced.

JPPP

Thanks for your detailed response.

With regards to p/e.

At todays closing price of 39 and dividend of 24.5 leaves a post XD price of 11.5p.
Shares outstanding 1.74 billion.
But what is the profit figure? I can’t find it.

As Rose points out ADVFN quotes eps of 12.7.
(11.5/39)* 12.7 = 4.02 post XD p/e
I take this with a large pinch of salt, much as I’d like to believe it, I think ADVFN are wrong (maybe not).
Typical p/e for a software company should be 15+.

Sorry that’s not much help!

When I first looked into Pinewood, I was intrigued, but a little confused and out of my comfort zone.
The following article helped me understand both the business and the deal.
It’s a little dated but of interest nonetheless.
The author stresses the hassle factor putting off IIs and PIs, most of whom will wait until after XD.

His final thought that it has the potential to 30 or 40 bag is a bit fanciful. A tenth of that would be nice!

Chris Mills of Harwood Capital Management sounds very positive in this podcast (minutes 7-14):-

JPPP, In response to your post earlier. I have mainly moved away from individual stocks. My preference for the bulk of my holdings is trackers. You can pretty much track any market or sector, hedged or unhedged at very low cost. I hold a handful of stocks these days. GLA

Phillis maybe you should tell your mate not to make silly goading comments when talking to Sage. How are you feeling about your losses on SHG? I had to laugh at the know-it-all comments on there. Just goes to show companies don't give a toss about shareholders especially when they're like your mate. :-)

of credibility renders your opinion worthless.

Maybe a PE of 4.3?

The consolidation will muddy the waters but the
ratio ought to be the same as the earnings per share
will also be consolidated.

Share price of 39 pence at close, with ADVFN reporting
a PE of 12, so 39 over x equals 12, making x (profit per
share) 3.25. 14 over 3.25 equals 4.3.

Hi The A, this is what I have found (paste below) and post special divi, what is the market cap, The company certainly makes money. I think there are currently 1,742,312,403 shares (less Lithis'a shares), and a divi at £24.5p makes £358m. so that is right. Post the divi, we have £0.14p share price = market cap of £243million, gross profit of £25m?, net profit of £13m?. Isn't that about the right value? So big divi and then the company is left about where it should be? OR?

FY 2022
Software - Pinewood
o Revenue up 4.1% to £25.4m (FY21: £24.4m).
o Gross profit up 0.9% to £22.7m (FY21: £22.5m).
o Operating profit down 12.0% to £11.0m (FY21: £12.5m), with the reduction driven by increased costs,
principally driven by investment in developer resource to support product development and implementation.
o Strong global expansion continuing:
 Record high international users at 6,400, up 13%.
 International users now represent 24% of external users.
 New market entries to Singapore and Middle East.
o System development has both supported Pendragon’s strategic agenda as well as opened opportunities to sell
developments to external customers:
 Pinewood technology powering CarStore.com.
 Enhancement to used car valuation tools.
 Development of Finance & Insurance tools.
o Continued high levels of customer retention with net user churn of sub 1% in FY22, supported by frequent
system updates.

And Half Year 2023.
Pinewood Software
o Revenue up 16.9% to £14.5m (H1 FY22: £12.4m).
o Total users grew by 7% vs H1 FY22 to c.32,800 (H1 FY22 : c30,600).
o Average recurring revenue per user increased by 7% during H1 FY23.
o Operating costs increased by 14.3%, driven by higher levels of amortisation following increased product
development investment, together with the impact of wage inflation.
o 18.2% increase in operating profit to £6.5m (H1 FY22: £5.5m), driven by the increase in users and higher average
recurring revenue per user, partially offset by operating

Thanks The A. interesting on the face of it. Unusual for a takeover to leave anything on the table.

Post the special divi, and idea what the P/E would be if one was left in for £0.14?

Many thanks
