They did the same to Wickes for what it's worth they came out with strong numbers they mentioned caution about inflation they pushed the share price down to 115 then weeks later rallied to 145.

I'm not invested here but find this company very interesting to follow. Results are as expected they appear to be mitigating inflation fairly well without damaging their profit margins too much. The markets are obviously negative on this but for no great reason. Sooner or later this will be going back up. Just not now it appears. Noted the lack of Dividends are a disincentive but share buyback should help to keep it stable around here. IMHO dyor.

Oh dear they mentioned inflation so they jumped on it. All it said in the report is they were being cautious about inflation which is basically every business in the UK is.

Analysts don't like positive results if it's doing well in the wrong sector it has to follow their narrative

Well, the results really are at the lower end of their guidance. But the £15m buyback starting today should stop the shares sinking any further. Hopefully a dividend will be announced at H1.
Saying that the results are good compared to last year when the share price was a lot higher,so maybe we will tick up from here.

FY results on Tuesday (hopefully better than the trading Update on 11 October). The key to share price movement is what the BOD say about post year end trading and the promised £50m return to shareholders (of which £10 has already been done by buybacks). I'm guessing another £10m of buybacks starting Tuesday, an interim dividend of 2p (£10m payable July 2023) then a final dividend of 4p (£20m payable January 2024).
Anyway it looks like we have turned the corner, the question is how long will it take to get back up to 100p?

GLG partners are quickly reducing their short, 0.21% on Mon 7th and 0.51% on Tue 8th, to leave 1.68% left. They have made good money on their short, but hopefully this means that they think 66p is the bottom.
There is one other declared short (over 0.5%) at 0.88%.

Did a search on Investegate for GNC holdings announcements. This is the only one from Morgan Stanley (ie with keyword Stanley), there have been lots from JP Morgan (around 6% held). Presumably a T/O might also be signalled by the shorters clearing off.

Debt is less than £200m.
Full year results are announced on 29 November (there was an update on 11 October).

Morgan Stanley have just declared that they have acquired 8.15%. Is a takeover coming?

The rest of the sector. Bakkavor, Premier, Finsbury seem to be on PE's of 9 plus...so why is this so lowly rated in comparison. Debt?

Chairman bought 100k at 78p recently. It's clearly has had the sh*t shorted out if it but risk reward seems good here.

Seems very cheap at 7 x 2022 earnings and 6 x 2023. Inflation is clearly an issue as are 2 funds short 3.3% of the float....but surely most of the bad news must be in the price. Any views? NB I am not as yet a shareholder.
