Well that was a great week, up nearly 20p. (Alternatively the share price is back to where it was 2 months ago, before the slide back for some unknown reason?)
Next week we should push into the 90's.
Companies do buybacks when they consider that the share price is significantly below the companies true value, in greencores case the buybacks first started on 26 July 2022 the share price was 107p, so there is plenty more upside here.
If the company could get the first half of the year as profitable as the second half then the share price should go back to pre Covid levels eg 270p.

Greencore Group plc issued a trading update for Q4 and the full year ended 29 September 2023 this morning. Group pro-forma revenue was 4% up year on year in Q4, with FY23 Group pro-forma revenue growth of 13%. For FY23 the Group anticipates adjusted operating profit will be ahead of current market expectations and in a range of approximately £74m-£76m, which would be up significantly from the statutory operating profit of £52.1m recorded in FY22. The balance sheet remains solid, valuation also looks very attractive with forward PE ratio at 7.0x top quartile for the sector, PEG ratio at 0.3x is even better ranking GNC 2nd best of 23 names in the Food & Tobacco market. Share price lacks longer run positive momentum, but has notably spiked up 25% on today’s release. The consumer defensive name could also well outperform more cyclical sectors of the market as the UK economy slides into recession and is well worth owning at current levels for the long run. BUY...

Back to where we were about a year ago. I'd like to be back to where we were about 2 years ago and a divi restored.

15% reduction in debt is welcome but it would have even been better if they reduced debt further rather than doing share buybacks.

Great update, debt way down.
Buybacks starting today (last year it was at full year results).
Also is the door left open for a year end dividend?
Should kiss good bye to the 60s today

I've just read that Mallow (145 acres) is on the market at 2.2m euros. I'm guessing that Carlow is similar.

Nice uptick Friday afternoon, I'm guessing due to reaching an agreement over the pay dispute.
The company's year end was Friday, so there will be a post year end trading Update next Friday or possibly the following week. As long as its not negative the share price should improve.
Also we should get confirmation that the sale of Trilby Trading Ltd was completed by the year end.

Does anyone have any further information regarding the old Irish Sugar land banks (Carlow and Mallow) eg are they worth 10m/100m?
Thanks

The 3 lots of buybacks to date totalled 43m shares and cost £35m at an average of 81.4p. In November 2020 the company did a placing of 80m shares at 112p. So the company has made £13m profit from the 3 lots of buybacks to date.
There is £15m remaining to be returned to shareholders and I'm thinking it will be a dividend rather than further buybacks as I think the share price will be over 100p in Oct/Nov
