Golden Prospect Precious... Takeover Rumours (GPM)

with the gold price at record highs, it boggles the mind how miners are so cheap, and the GPM sp is almost at record lows. its worth bearing in mind though that silver has massively underperformed, and is barely above the cost price for most miners. Even though it produces some gold, consider Fresnilo, which has a SP of 550p vs its recent high of 1250p - these are >10year lows. GPM has holdings in MAG silver, which has a JV with fresnilo btw, and is a purer play on silver. That said, higher metal prices should flow through to profits and eventual dividends, buy backs and takeovers - no matter how unloved miners are. Many of the GPM holdings will also be prime takeover targets, as the rate of discovries for new metal has slowed to a trickle. The UK investment trust sector itself is also unloved at the momemnt - the sector wide disounts are at record highs.
