Indeed, a fantastic organisation and worthy example.
Its research and products certainly helped me survive malaria as a kid.

Yes, a very interesting organisation. I wonder if they have any plans on the financial structure side? These organisations always need to maximise any fruits of their research.

Here's a Charity that derived all of its wealth from a pharmaceutical company and its funding of medical/pharma research has made a huge difference to world health.

The Wellcome Trust is a research charity based in London, United Kingdom. It was established in 1936 with legacies from the pharmaceutical magnate Sir Henry Wellcome to fund research to improve human and animal health. The aim of the Trust is to "achieve extraordinary improvements in health by supporting the brightest minds", and in addition to funding biomedical research it supports the public understanding of science. It had an endowment of £25.9 billion in 2018, making it the fourth wealthiest charitable foundation in the world, after the American Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Danish Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Dutch INGKA Foundation (related to the IKEA company).

The Trust has been described by the Financial Times as the United Kingdom's largest provider of non-governmental funding for scientific research, and one of the largest providers in the world.

I think the soul needs very very few calories on which to survive.
And definitely a lot less than my or my spouse’s propensity for expenditure!
(Not forgetting that a high proportion of charities’ money goes directly into physical persons’ pockets rather than their causes).

Donating it to charity would have been a better investment, food for the soul.

A lot of profit taking just like the one we have left behind 16-17 now let us wait 17-18 and see if there is going to be a 18-19 after the expected rise due in Pfizer get together

Yes love a good crash some excellent buying opportunities not to mention reading the "end of the world" "this is just the beginning" type posts by the usual numpties on the forums!

They are usually a great opportunity to buy quality on the cheap.

Sorry you missed the massive rally.

You're right it could crash but then again , given the new strategy and m&a involving Pfizer, it could keep on going up steadily.

all imo. dyor.

The price has risen too quickly for my comfort (because I'm all in cash!). September is a bad month for the stock market and the Brexit thing is looming ominously, so I won't be investing.

I guess the risk of a crash makes it all the more exciting, though!

Well, that's interesting and perhaps not to be ignored.

An RNS that a PCA (connected person) of a SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT in HUMAN RESOURCES has just bought almost $80,000 of GSK shares (adr's).

Always a good indicator to keep a close eye on what is effectively closely related Director Buying.

Also, it was a purchase on the New York Exchange. At an interesting time when lots going on strategically with Pfizer.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Yes GSk is currently the cheapest blue chip, considering all that is coming in the pipe line plus the forthcoming corporate actions the future looks promising

Still plenty of potential good product (and merger) news as well as favourable exchange rates:

Zejula, the ovarian cancer drug Glaxo acquired from the Tesaro buyout, was granted a priority review by the FDA in June for an expanded use in treatment of the late-stage ovarian cancer. The regulatory body is expected to give its decision on Oct 24
