Announcement on extension to GLA is very good news. Alternative would have been KRG to declare existing GLA agreement null and give Genl one year to agree another GLA . That would have been a very bad news.

Agree cyan. A takeover whilst nice in the immediate term is probably the biggest risk to Genl shares hitting their true value. As we unlock more value from our assets without significant share price improvement it becomes more likely.

Imo its evident that 'market' presently values GENL's gas as next to zero.


For me, the gas is all a big plus. The question that can be argued is ; how bigger plus it is, and, the timing of the pay days.

I think there is a realistic chance GENL will be taken over in the next year.

Indeed the gas will flow there is a market but its a long road to that point from here and its not straight. Difficult to see how Genel will get a completely easy ride through with so many larger interested parties looking at getting invovled for a variety of reasons. For sure PIs will be last to know of any deal positively or negatively though the share price will give a big clue :0)

Thats the issue, Pogue, and why Genel is a tenth of the price it would be, based on production, little debt, monthly income and of course its share in one of the biggest gas finds the world has seen in recent years. Its politics, not economics, we all know that but the pendulum may swing. The ball is not entirely in Baghdad's court. What you will see, though, is the share price at least trebling long before PIs get an inkling of it. BEFORE and IF a major-US Russia, China etc take a stake in the field, making it far less likely Baghdad would try to play hard ball then. imo

it should be noted its an agreement between Kurds and Genel but if Baghdad and Erbil agree terms it will become a deal between Genel and Baghdad no? So what is the agreement worth? That's to me is the question, we have to assume things will carry on as before but Baghdad in a fit of pique a while back said any agreement reached without them is invalid. I am not convinced they meant that just a warning shot across the bows of oil companies incase they think they can buy a good deal from the Kurds before they hand over to Baghdad but something to be aware of I would say.

A predictable, sensible extension of the gas agreement. Should reassure the nervous. The politics have just set us back up to a year, imo, but, I am confident the gas will flow profitably in the fullness of time.

With all the work they are pushing in bp's direction I doubt they will want to be seen as shafting oil companies as the field they are stepping into will potentially need hindered of millions of not billions investing.

Yea, good to see. Given chaos caused by ISIS throughout middle east the international community will want to see a reasonable compromise between Baghdad and Erbil, which hopefully will include recognizing Norway's DNO and Genel's prior agreements. US, esp after all their military and financial input over the past three decades, is particularly aware shafting the Kurds will see Baghdad and the rest of Iraq in ruins as the Kurds, not just in Iraq, are far more capable than ISIS of mayhem. So hopefully reason holds-in which case genel should rerate substantially-but you never know in this neck of the woods. imo
