20/3/2023 08:32 | Hi Sky. At the moment you're getting 3 x the annual yield for 2023-2025 plus some /all of 2026? So not adjusting for inflation you can't lose your capital, plus if Aviva make an offer I'm sure it won't be at par, unless off course they mean this....On 8 March 2018 Aviva stated it has the ability to cancel the preference shares at par value, having received clear legal advice. What's your take? Thanks | ![]() elsa7878
14/3/2023 11:55 | Yields at offer prices: # AV.A 8.75% @ 127.8p-128.5p = 6.81% # AV.B 8.375% @ 120.4p-121.4p = 6.90% # GACA 8.875% @ 122.5p-124.5p = 7.13% # GACB 7.875% @ 108.0p-109.0p = 7.22% As we all know, prefs are equity; but they never moved like equity. Nowadays, prefs are no longer a BUY & HOLD; they are a trade! | ![]() skyship

03/2/2023 09:48 | Yields at offer prices: # AV.A 8.75% @ 136.0p-140.25p = 6.24% # AV.B 8.375% @ 126.0p-130.8p = 6.40% # GACA 8.875% @ 130.1p-130.95p = 6.78% # GACB 7.875% @ 115.0p-117.4p = 6.71% With AV.B & GACB the next to go XD, seems to me that AV.A are over-priced; and the best value has to be GACB. | ![]() skyship

24/1/2023 11:43 | Alp, Yup. Maybe take it back up when I retire...lol... | ![]() tiltonboy
24/1/2023 11:29 | I will continue to hold my Prefs for yield. The capital gain a bonus but prefer the continuing yield. Tilt - option writing is still off limits for you btw? | ![]() alphorn
24/1/2023 11:25 | Well done SKY, but no need to make me blush. Possibly a modest re-tracement of gains to come, but as always keep an eye on the 10 & 50 year gilt yields. | ![]() tiltonboy
24/1/2023 10:03 | In resistance area, MACD turning over, slightly overbought in the short-term. Sold all of mine now - been a great contributor to a relatively good start to 2023. As ever; find yourself doing the same as Tiltonboy and a very good chance you're going to come out OK...☺️ free stock charts from uk.advfn.com | ![]() skyship

10/1/2023 14:19 | 128.5p to sell 50k just now, still a very good market in GACA. | ![]() spectoacc
10/1/2023 11:31 | I would hope for GACA to move from behind the pack to ahead of the pack given its recent exposure | ![]() my retirement fund
10/1/2023 10:16 | Yields at offer prices: # AV.A 8.75% @ 129.0p-134.0p = 6.53% # AV.B 8.375% @ 123.3p-125.1p = 6.69% # GACA 8.875% @ 127.2p-127.7p = 6.95% # GACB 7.875% @ 116.4p-117.8p = 6.69% The Aviva prefs have provided a great run recently; whilst GACA featured as a Tip of the Year in the IC. I would now expect a period of consolidation; and further progress may well depend upon further strength in the gilts sector. | ![]() skyship

10/1/2023 08:03 | Ridiculous I got hammered on iI platform yesterday couldn’t sell first thing on a stock wouldn’t sell when put in a que for 5 hrs ended up losing further 3k and still stuck with stock, they should be compensating me shocking | ![]() linton5

09/1/2023 17:39 | @Skinny, might be worth having a look at the charts for gacb, av.a and av.b which possibly point to where this is going ;-) Just a comment, your chart work has always been better than mine :-) | ![]() return_of_the_apeman

09/1/2023 15:08 | Likewise - as charted earlier (818 above) - headed into resistance around these levels. Took some off the table, inc. at 128p. Moved more cash into the REIT Ediston (EPIC) for the 35% discount and seemingly secure 8.2% yield. They are 100% Retail Warehouse - a good place to be in the commercial property sector. | ![]() skyship
09/1/2023 14:49 | The 80k was an EO order from a client, and the 55k was re-investing from a recent sale. I see further upside as limited in the short-term, unless gilt yields fall. | ![]() tiltonboy
09/1/2023 14:29 | Well, Tilts was of course a very large buyer down at the 113p level. Tilts - interested however that you're still buying for clients at this level. You must view my 136.5p target (P. No. 704) as readily achievable. | ![]() skyship
09/1/2023 14:28 | Just an observation :- | ![]() skinny |
