Availability of funds possibly!

...or needing the IC to highlight in the majority of recent cases

Interesting to see there are still buyers at these levels(no sleight intended to anyone here!!), yet they could barely give them away at 111/112p :-)

For GACA followers - the tap seems still to be there and in equal measure - certainly 250k sold so far, inc 100k mis-represented as a purchase.

Nevertheless, the weight of buying is taking us higher. Now at 127.9p-128.6p. 😊

See page 25 of SAN's prospectus: "Redemption: The Sterling Preference Shares shall not be redeemable."

The same clause appears in SANB's prospectus. The danger with all these bank prefs is what happens in c.2026 when these cease to count towards capital.

It's a jumbled mess so take note of the page numbers but you can find SAN's here:

Have not investigated but STAC is described as irredeemable but not in description of SAN. With little difference between yields of two seemed to me better to opt for STAC

Re SAN - I wasn’t aware it it was redeemable….if so what is the maturity date please?

STAC strikes me as more attractive than SAN because STAC is stated to be irredeemable. Was able to buy STAC with no problem through HL

Thanks guys, I put in limit orders all set higher than the prevailing price still no joy, I have got an open order which I hate doing for some STAC just to see if it will go through, that was done an hour ago still no joy. Hope they get it sorted before a big drawdown day or we will be in mire.

Re SAN I make the 'clean' yield about 7.6% while for STAC it is about 7.5%. BOI (different animal I know) is around 7.8%. AFAIK these offer the best value at the moment in pure yield terms.

nerja - yes, they had a note up earlier though problems don't seem resolved to me. Not able to give a live quote only limit and manually fille - in time! Due to a third party - of course

From the front page...

We apologise for the continued issue, which means we are unable to retrieve electronic quotes, this is due to a third party supplier connection failure and we are working with our suppliers to rectify the problem as quickly as possible, orders can be sent manually but please consider limit options as they may take some time to execute. International and fund orders are unimpacted.

IC buyers now paying 127p. Yld = 6.99%. Next pause at 130p for a 6.83% yield.

I interpret Friday's volume as:

# BUYS: 633k

# SALES: 421k

The share price was held down by two large sales at 125.5p: 300k & 100k

Buyers look to be getting really good value, as at 125.9p the yield = 7.05% versus a lowly 6.53% with AV.A at 134p.

Over half a million traded today alone, pretty decent volume for the first week in January :-)

You think a lot of these small buys are dividend reinvestments?

LG - exactly. The tap seller is holding the price down as currently 330k bought, most by IC readers.

Lots of small buys this morning, so the IC article seems to be having some effect. The price isn't budging however, so someone is supplying stock to the market. We won't make any progress until the seller is out.
