"With the current state of the markets they will need to find these types of stones every month or more to move the share price imo"

On what basis are you making this opinion?

Which diamond company anywhere in the world digs these types of stones up every month?

how much can a High Quality 295 Carat White Diamond be worth

The value of a high quality 295 carat white diamond depends on several factors, such as the cut, color, clarity, and certificate of the diamond.hxxps://www.diamonds.pro/education/diamond-price-calculator/ However, based on some online sources, a rough estimate for such a diamond could be around $20 million.hxxps://www.research-tree.com/newsfeed/article/gem-diamonds-limited-recovery-of-a-high-quality-295-carat-white-diamond-2205687hxxps://www.stonealgo.com/diamond-price-calculator/

This is assuming that the diamond is a Type II white diamond, which means it has no nitrogen impurities and is very rare and valuable.hxxps://www.research-tree.com/newsfeed/article/gem-diamonds-limited-recovery-of-a-high-quality-295-carat-white-diamond-2205687 It is also assuming that the diamond has a good cut, color, and clarity grade, which can significantly affect the price.hxxps://www.diamonds.pro/education/diamond-price-calculator/

Of course, the actual price of a diamond can vary depending on the market demand, the seller's margin, and the buyer's negotiation skills. Therefore, this estimate should not be taken as a definitive or accurate valuation, but rather as a general guideline.

Petra diamonds. What gives?
Is there anything in the rough diamond market or is it just a board shake out?

If only......

Waiting to hear from captain kirk on his 40p prediction.
Before we ask Scott to beam him up back to planet earth, interesting statement from petra today. At least their board communicate....

The 20% increase in like-for-like1 prices for our third tender of FY 2024 supports the view that diamond prices have likely bottomed. We believe actions taken by major producers to curb supply and the two-month Indian moratorium that comes to an end on 15 December 2023, together with strengthened retail sales in the US, have improved market conditions as inventory levels across the pipeline rebalance. Ongoing discipline by the key players is important to provide some price stability in the new year."

Whad ya reckon spok?

Defo worth continuing to watch here but hard to be overly confident that LTH's do not continue to get smashed, as the board has a history of destroying the value of the company. Even so, at £15m MC I wouldn't rule out doubling, tripling or even better whatever you invest here in the next 18 months ... but hoping the downside is not complete capital loss.

Have decided to wait until the diamond index shows a decent sign of a reversal, shame GEMD don't give more detailed updates on trading, not just mining, in the quarterly RNS's

Carats recovered was actually up 4000 on Q2 so decent mining performance there. Carats sold was down 10% but there were some cancelled tenders. They will carry over these unsold diamonds into Q3, spprox 3000 carats, and may achieve a better $ per carat for them if the market starts to pick up again.

Thanks Dave. However this is not a trading update. It's a mining update with a sales figure. I'll have a look at last results info and see if I can dot plot an EPS. be tomorrow thuogh

No capex info given, the dollar per carat and carats sold figures seem OK in the circumstances, need an upturn in the diamond market

Yo DaveTH
If you can summarise results here tomorrow before 8.01 am I might have a nibble.

If they can maintain anything near EPS of 6 to 7c and give sensible capex report it might be worth it. I'd like to make a profit on this just to annoy Mrs M.

From the link

.."Its long-term average, since 2008, has been eight +100-ct recoveries a year. Last year it recovered just four..."

If i read correctly, these 2 bring this year's total so far to 5.
