No I didn't catch it. Is it available on the website. I'll be back at hq later this aft. |
Did you listen to presentation yesterday? |
So did the market price. I was on the move yesterday so will read thru all this morning. Interested mainly in progress/costs of steeper satellite pipe. It's going nowhere till big stones start rolling in (sorry IF) |
net debt fell considerably. |
Good luck MTT, I hope your patience is rewarded. |
I'm sticking with my massive losses. Yes I know I shouldn't but I'll wait at least till they get into the steeper sat pipe and hopefully chase down big stones. |
Completely sold out a couple of months ago. Nothing to do with the horrible state of the diamond market, GEMD is fairly unique in that most of its sales come from > 10cts diamonds.
The reason i sold was the mine plan for the next few years will significantly reduce the amount of ore processed from higher grade ore, greater development of ore body so greater capital spend.
But there was other reasons too. These articles concerned me about just how ethical it was to invest in GEMD.

I was informed that the article re: unpaid taxes is someone that owns the Lesotho Tribune that holds a grudge and that I would be updated about it but I've heard nothing back since emailing the company a few months ago.
The issue around water pollution I have known about for quite some time and although it's really not that significant, it never sat well with me.
Anyway, I'm completely out now at a very small loss. |
Shocking results from Anglo and huge De Beers loss reported, several billion, diamond miners are finished imo |
Ps thanks S25 Very helpful update on trades |
If any of the buyers are officially connected then we're in bid territory and can expect notification. Of course it's a long way to j'burg so it might be unofficial.
Well gemd might bet interesting yet! |
Okay, those trades were delayed and hit later yesterday. Slightly odd, because the trade prints normally hit first and then the parties exchanging disclose. Sometimes they taken a while to disclose as well. Sustainable Capital didn't hang about disclosing.
The prints that hit were delayed from the 29th January.
Prints of:
8m, 5.5m, 6.5m, two x 5m and a 4.78m - all at prices of 10.5p-10.6p
Sustainable Capital had 18.21m as at the 21st of January, representing 12.97% so the whole lot has been sold.
Unsure how that is split:
8m, 5m and 5m to three buyers?
Don't know - just a guess.
But I had this on the watchlist to see if there was a technical movement after Sustainable Capital were out.
I can see the market has seen those prints and there is a small amount of early buying this morning, but it is all about the follow through.
Maybe the fundamentals here trump the technical. I don't know enough about the fundamentals.
Price popped abit on the notification but no significant follow through movement this morning.
Keeping a watch though to see if there are any notable buyers of those shares and whether order book activity picks up, for a possible quick trade.
All imo DYOR |
Well see boonie, a cross the year it's an inprovement IMO.
I doubt we'll see large diamonds in those numbers till they get back into the satellite pipe at increased depth.
How long does a purchasers of 5% or more have to declare |
There are no large diamonds to sell. H1-25 will be horrendous P&L. Especially with diamond carat pricing lower too YoY.Meanwhile they haven't found any more additional cost efficiencies to offset the reduced carat pricing. |
The other side to the Sustainable block trade is not showing so it must have been spread about in the market as a clean-up. Good news and a nice fee for the broker. |
As usual I was wrong again. Sustainable are out. Someone has bought the lot. S25 you may well be correct, backdoor. |
Hang on...what?
Where have those Sustainable Capital shares gone?
Backdoor?
That is 13% gone through the backdoor somewhere?
Is that right...the rns looks like they have sold the whole lot
10:18 UPDATE
So they have acted as an overhang selling down from 18.24% to 16.53% in early September last year. They then lobbed a few more in November and a week back. The nature of this share is that it takes a long long time to offload small amounts of shares so interested to see if that rns is correct and who has picked up 13%. Maybe they placed that through a dark pool - can't see the print on ADVFN. Maybe a delayed one hits but someone has to disclose if the have bought. Price isn't doing anything...watching in...can't be an error can it...no transfer or other notes. |
Sustainable are out! Rerate looking on! |
Out and about today but better than guidance on first appearance with revenue up and costs flat cf last year. Profit should be up but this year but mine plan is the steeper satellite pipe but we should have something in the tank to cover the upfront costs now. Not expecting this to move the dial to re-rating but I'm usually wrong where gemd is concetned |
Operationally going okay and if anything could be above guidance.. full year results should be very good! |
Not a holder anymore but interested to read their update on Wednesday. Rather odd how their large stones dried up in an instant. |
Buy out at this price? |
dcroston
big difference in market cap aswell gemfields £80million market cap but GEMD £12million market cap and profitable
buy out target? |
Chris,
This may interest you. Of the 4 diamond mines in Lesotho, two of three are under C&M and one has reduced its mining operation. Only GEMD are fully operational and profitable even under significant constraints of diamond prices and diamond industry generally.
Make of that what you will. |
Had another look, and a rather quick no, Gemfields Group Limited, down 50% in recent weeks, today down 12% after suspending mining operations of precious gems, does nothing to add confidence to the sector.
The consistent fall in price, doesn't help here, no signs of a recovery and you wonder is the space just in terminal decline from here or at least for existing equity to live with a pause/reset in the market, which will kill equity values and in some cases entirely. |
