G7 this afternoon - Ministers also agreed to stop direct funding of coal-fired power stations in poorer nations by the end of 2021 (lots of wiggle room though.)
On the upside, Hasina can comfortably comply, Exim Bank or whoever can under-right the finance providing they do it this year.
If she sits on her hands then the last remaining chance will be gone. Interesting dilemma as her hand is being forced one way or another. Decision time imminent.

Strange No mention of local coal

The PSMP stipulates for 35 per cent power generation from imported LNG (liquefied natural gas), some 35 per cent from imported coal, 15 per cent from renewable energy, 10 per cent from nuclear energy and five per cent from petroleum oil by 2041, when the country’s generation is expected to reach 60,000 MW, reports UNB.

If anything of real substance was going on, I hardly think we would be given clues or fed snippets of news. I understand the lack of trust but I do not believe it could be any different. We stay invested till the end as the upside potential is huge. The downside risk is lose everything. For me that's a 6 figure sum so I do know what I am saying. I can't afford to lose such money, but after 12 or 13 years invested, I can't risk missing out. So I stay till the end. After all, we got a new Nomad. We have the LOI's all extended. Not massive progress but we remain where we are. GLA

China has told Bangladesh it will not fund coal mines and polluting power plants, as Beijing took the first tentative steps towards fulfilling its promises of sustainable Belt and Road investment.

China has told Bangladesh it will not fund coal mines and polluting power plants, as Beijing took the first tentative steps towards fulfilling its promises of sustainable Belt and Road investment.

In a letter seen by the Financial Times, China’s embassy to Bangladesh informed the local Ministry of Finance that “the Chinese side shall no longer consider projects with high pollution and high energy consumption, such as coal mining [and] coal-fired power stations”.
