03/7/2023 19:33 | Doubt there will be anything on Amazon deal yet. Games workshop are super cautious. | conradin
03/7/2023 18:48 | @Cambst, my memory is that the share price usually falls on results day, and we have had all of our big rises (a few 20% + ones, and the recent 10%+ one for the Amazon news) from trading updates at seemingly random times. Do you think they would confirm the Amazon news during an annual report, or via an ad hoc trading statement? I guess it is not big news / material for Amazon. But I wonder if they would both want to publish it at the same time, instead of via GAW's accounts? Hopefully there is a chunky dividend announced on 25 July either way.... | m_e_x
03/7/2023 13:47 | I am considering topping up gradually ahead of the release of the annual report on July 25. Even though the share price is farily strong right now, I feel that good news, especially some positive update on the Amazon deal could possibly generate a lot of momentum. | ![]() cambst

30/6/2023 12:34 | This all seems like good news on the IT front! | ![]() cambst
30/6/2023 08:41 | As it goes, over a year ago, my son-in-law was hired on contract to head up the IT infrastructure build. He told me it was the most antiquated (non-existent) he had seen in his 20-odd years in the biz.In the end after a few months he resigned,I think because GAW didn't seem to grasp the magnitude of the task and the resources required to build from ground up. I inferred that it's going to take a long time, be very expensive and GAW may not get it all right at the first attempt. On the upside, they have still been successful despite such hopeless IT and the potential for improvement on things like delivery, stock management is huge.Despite already having massive ROCE there is,it would seem, a surprisingly large amount more to go for ! | ![]() maiken
29/6/2023 23:53 | The Interim Report stated that IT systems have been "holding us back". The CEO sees growth, but our IT infrastructure (SAP) has been an impediment. "Services IT - we've highlighted above the challenges our relatively new global head of IT is dealing with. The team is starting to make some progress. They are feeling part of the solution and the broader team rather than a support function. The goal remains the same: our IT systems and infrastructure adapt and scale with the business as we grow - they're currently holding us back. We will continue to invest in the team in the period ahead, the senior IT team must spend this investment wisely" | nod
29/6/2023 14:52 | Not sure about any movie/series, but they appear to be starting to co-ordinate video game releases with tabletop. The forthcoming Space Marine 2 appears to pitch Space Marines against Tyranids - matching the 40k 10th Edition release narrative. | ![]() cockerhoop
29/6/2023 14:29 | Could be right on AoS. So you might be expoecting Old World this year? I would be surprised, especially as we have just had 10th, but who knows. Sorry I was probasbly unclear, Kill Team models can be used in 40k, Underworld and War Cry models can be used in AoS (unfortunately Lord of the Rings models are specifically made at a different scale to prevent them being used as proxies in AoS, I beleieve that this was to do with the license from hte Tolkein family). I do wonder if/how the forthcoming movie material will imapact the three year cycle? | ![]() cambst
29/6/2023 14:07 | I'd imagine AoS will be FY25 (ie June 24 release). Old World perhaps more likely to be a Black Friday release (guessing) No expert but I don't think Kill Team models can be used in AOS. KT has had quarterly releases the last couple of years. New Paint was also part of the 3 year cycle FY20 (contrast) & FY23 (alongside HH) | ![]() cockerhoop
29/6/2023 08:08 | @giovcaf: Old World should be 2024, new edition of Horus Heresy should be '25, and then AoS 4th edition '26. GW has sufficient major games systems by now, each with c.3-year new release cycles, to have a big release least once per year. 'Secondary' systems: Lord of the Rings, Blood Bowl, Titanicus, Underworlds etc. fit in around these and often buff and support the primary games systems, driving in new players with smaller and cheaper introductions to the hobby. For example, you can use all Underworlds and Kill Team models in games of AoS and 40k respectively. These smaller games often have far more regular releases: Underwolds has a new 'season' TWICE per year, for example. (This is all just my personal understanding, I stand to be corrected on any errors). | ![]() cambst

28/6/2023 12:30 | Any idea when the sale of The Old World will be launched? | ![]() giovcaf
28/6/2023 09:15 | Games Workshop is to host a 'not 40k' product preview event on 1 July. 10th Edition 40k has somewhat overshadowed the other games systems recently, and this reveal will preview new releases and ranges for all the other systems including for the highly anticipated Old World game stystem. Not sure anything here will move the share price needle. | ![]() cambst

19/6/2023 15:54 | Selling 1,500 shares today to fund part of upcoming house purchase, have enjoyed the little run recently! Still have 7,500 left. | m_e_x
18/6/2023 23:02 | The Hobbit trilogy from 2012-2014 brought another new generation of recruits into GAW. Many of that generation watched the LOTR films for the first time. The Hobbit models were popular with new recruits who were more interested in the hobby of painting rather than in tabletop battle games. However, some graduated to 40k. | nod
18/6/2023 22:51 | GAW released LOTR models to coincide with the films from 2001 to 2003. Many new recruits stayed with the LOTR models and games while some quickly moved on to 40k. This was a very lucrative move by GAW. The Tolkien world of battles and Orks fitted well with GAW's experience. | nod
18/6/2023 22:39 | According to Financial Times today GAW has increased 77.8% over the past 12 months. | nod
18/6/2023 13:42 | Personally I don't think it will ever be fully mainstream because the worlds they create are so nasty and dystopian - essentially 40k - it's goes too much against the contemporary zeitgeist. But then that is exactly why it's fans are so devoted. Mainstream would be the death of Games Workshop. | conradin
18/6/2023 09:19 | Long term 3-5 years, where do we see the share price and will GAW get into the ftse 100 | ![]() milliecusto |
