28/7/2020 10:34 | Yes I’m not hoping for a takeover - more just looking at value within. | nimbo1
28/7/2020 10:14 | If GAW was taken over, the new owners might change it into something unrecognisable and drive away its fans. It wouldn't be the first time that something good was taken over and destroyed. Let hope GAW remains independent. | daijavu
28/7/2020 10:11 | nimbo1, Sadly I sold 2/3 of my position between £48-£50 after the share price started recovering. Never expected this level of performance. Thankfully its still about 13% of my portfolio. | shanklin
28/7/2020 10:05 | I think a lot of the market excitement is comments to do with TV / Film and AAA computer games. It would not surprise me in the slightest to see a large player like TTWO or Ubisoft produce something with GAW. I also think the value of the IP to someone like netflix or Amazon would be worth at least 2x current market cap given they would own the IP for content production (film and games etc) into perpetuity... | nimbo1
28/7/2020 09:39 | I love the spartan simplicity of their annual report. No glossy production number filled with photographs and unnecessary verbiage. Never change Games Workshop. | robinnicolson
28/7/2020 09:33 | I got gaw so wrong - 30% PF position at £72 pre covid and sold...didnt buy back at 35?! why not ; ). Holding a 5% position into today but not enough : ) | nimbo1

28/7/2020 08:38 | I liked this: "Shareholder Value We believe shareholder value is created, primarily, by not destroying it. We have no intention to acquire other companies, nor to dispose of any of those we own." A truism but how many companies make this a statement of value (retention)? How many investments do you enter on good performance, with a great idea and franchise and good strategy only to wake up one day and find, after carrying out a "strategic review" (ie our bankers thought they could manage the business better than we can), words like "We will dispose of abc because it's no longer a core holding" or "We have acquired bxz as it fits with our growth strategy and expect it to be accretive to earnings in year one" etc. and then for the share price to go hastily down the pan? | sogoesit

28/7/2020 08:03 | Nice update | daijavu
25/7/2020 13:02 | When I had my little punt on GAW in 2008 (having been a shareholder previously) I didn't expect GAW to become such a huge business based on selling toy soldiers as it had in the 1980s/90s. Here we are in 2020, taking warehouse space alongside huge international logistics companies. I should confess that back in 2008 the primary reason for my investment was not the sales growth in physical toy soldiers and tabletop gaming that I had known for 20 years prior. The reason I invested in 2008 was the huge potential in online role playing games, MMORPG, such as Warhammer Online and World of Warcraft. Oddly enough, 12 years later, MMORPG gaming still remains a huge potential market for our company. In the meantime, we need a massive warehouse space for our toy soldiers. "Games Workshop signed a 15-year lease for the unit which will become the main distribution hub when it is operational in Autumn 2020. It joins other customers such as Amazon, XPO Logistics, Kuehne & Nagel and ShopDirect on the 700 acre- flagship site." | nod

24/7/2020 09:46 | New warehouse distribution facility: From the 2019 annual report: "We have been at our own warehousing facility at Nottingham for the last 14 years which we have now outgrown. We will be moving to a purpose built rented facility less than 11 miles from our HQ and will be investing c. £5 million in new warehouse fixtures and fittings and technology. This project will start in the Autumn of 2019. The current warehouse at our HQ will become our component warehouse, saving on third party cost." | robinnicolson
