Garbet, yep fair point and agree. In effect gable are at start up point now (you could arguably say). Us previous shareholders have paid for it.

Yes, of course the claim reserves are just an estimate and WILL be either too high or too low. On their track record & taking into account what they have been writing MY guess is that they will turn out too low.

The point I was making (and maybe I misunderstood Max's post) was that if Gable are bought (highly unlikely in my view), the claim reserves will remain as claim reserves - they can't magically become capital.

Garnet, depends if at what number of claims materialise and at what costs. Therefore there maybe some value left however no one knows..you cannot calculate or even estimate that figure.

Unless I've completely misunderstood you, if Gable are bought by another insurer, the claim reserves will remain as that - the claims won't magically disappear or be left behind. There's no way the claim reserves can suddenly change status and become capital.
As I stated, i may have completely misunderstood - where / who did you get that idea from??

I thought Gable had already declared they won't achieve solvency II, my broker has informed me that premium credit firm for brokers are not allowing any credit premium for clients on Gable Policies . Tread carefully bad signs

max,

I would urge caution. Whilst this share, like any other share, could rise, you clearly do not have a good understanding of the underlying business or the accounts and are, in my opinion, basing your decision to buy on erroneous logic.

Max this seems to have gone down again by a tiny tiny amount.

I hope youre right, but personally i ve followed the view of Garbet, who works in the industry.

He may or may not be right, but certainly he has saved the stress of monitoring this continual drip down day after day.

just to add, like gah I`m in CLP that is expecting very good news by next week. The company put out another RNS yesterday ,almost confirming that they will repay earlier the amount they borrowed recently....I remember when AIM ,with same kind of news, was going 100% up,while ,now everyone is skeptic of everything.CLP`s previous director had a bad track record but the one in charge, now,is doing the right thing and will get value to shareholders. In the meantime is NOT paid and will be only when selling assets, therefore realising values. One day soon,Clp will climb of all a sudden and pi`s will wonder why they didn`t buy it before....you welcome to do the research on CLP......

Guys, have a consideration...lots of times the market goes wild up or down, then reality is more in the middle....if I was buying at 50p I would understand but at 4p?Just a hi nt of good news and it will double in a session.Reserve are ther for claims but still is cash in the bank,IF,and is an IF,another insurance wants to buy them out,it will count as capital....I`m expecting a return to @10p,so I`m adding.DYOR,no advise to buy or sell.

Hi Max

Who are these new customers? Do you think the cash reserves are reserves for shareholders?? They are reserves against known & unknown claims - these are not claims that might materialise, claims WILL come along, albeit that nobody knows how many & how large. Gable have a pretty clear track record of under-estimating claims.

If you believe that a substantial portion of the claim/cash reserves are going to end up free for shareholders, I'm afraid I very much doubt it. In fact, I suspect (and it's only my belief) that the reserves will prove to be inadequate.

But, yes, if I'm wrong, you could do very well.

I've no position - I've never shorted anything and a golden rule is not to invest in companies where there is excessive executive remuneration. And I doubt there are many who believe WD's remuneration is remotely reasonable.

Good luck.

Has been down every day (or there abouts) for 2 yrs. Will be interesting to see how this will end up. Cheap MBO on the cards for me....then they'll wait out for the balance of reserves, which may be in the early tens of millions of £££;.

max, it could go to 20p/30p if they get things right.. however would take time, and before that the market is unsure of the future strategy in any case!!or if the company even has a future,,, You can currently buy huge amounts of shares however not sell any... which means a large sell order is in place... Goodluck though, if they somehow get things right then its definitely a recovery play, no one on here knows what the outcome will be either way...risk you take i suppose... 5/10 bag or bust!!.

yes, true but I bought at 4.5p not at 45p....so is a risk I`m prepared to take.Usually market goes to extreme so I think it could bounce from here,at least technically....with a bit of positive news it could go back to 10p pretty fast,imo...either it goes bust or it climbs higher again...this could be the floor...will see next move soon, imo

dex - bit of a loss here unfortunately, however i agree with you..if they can turn it around then it may/will be a different story here, and it could be quite a recovery story in time...that's a big if though?..and i required some of my losses.. Goodluck with your investment.
