04/9/2017 07:18 | EMail this am from FST Frontier Silicon brings Amazon Alexa to its smart radio and wireless speaker platform London, 4 September 2017 Frontier Silicon, the leading provider of smart audio and digital radio solutions, announces that it is working on technologies which will allow its smart radios and wireless speakers to be controlled via Amazon’s Echo and Echo Dot devices. By incorporating Amazon Alexa’s new Connected Speaker API, this solution will enable Alexa devices such as the Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show to control music on audio systems based on Frontier’s Venice 6 platform. With the aid of Frontier’s class-leading UNDOK™ multi-room technology, users will be able to ask Alexa for music in any room in the house, or in multiple rooms at the same time. The platform will offer multiple music services, including Amazon Music, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and Pandora - with Spotify and SiriusXM due to be added in the coming months. Consumers will be able to use voice commands to control content selection, volume settings, and functions such as next track, previous, pause, resume, repeat and shuffle. They will also be able to control their FM or DAB digital radio via their Alexa device. Over two million audio devices powered by Frontier’s Venice 6 smart radio platform are currently in the market. Frontier’s new solution will allow rapid deployment of Alexa voice control on new products, and the solution will be offered as an over-the-air upgrade to existing products in the field. Frontier is showcasing this technology at the IFA electronics trade fair in Berlin from 1st to 6th September. Smart radio products with this new software are expected to be available from mid-2018. Anthony Sethill, CEO, Frontier Silicon, said: “Voice technologies are transforming audio products. By working with Alexa, Frontier is able to help its customers create smart radios and wireless speakers which can be part of this new generation of voice controlled audio devices | taffy100
01/9/2017 23:19 | FST did make clear in July RNS that they did not intend to communicate what they know by now until the end of September."The outcome for the full year will be determined over the next few weeks by the order intake for the Christmas period. The Group will update the market on progress at the time of the half year results in late September 2017."It's frustrating not knowing what the insiders know, but I assume it's not fantastic news otherwise the share price would have gone up more than it has. | nod
01/9/2017 14:28 | On that last sentence, we're in complete agreement. | the drewster
01/9/2017 14:15 | Don't see any problem with them telling it how they think it is but, as you said Drewster, we'll agree to differ. I'm hoping they will release some good solid numbers which will tell their own story. | impvesta
01/9/2017 13:46 | Don't say something like that unless you intend, after "the next few weeks" to make a further announcement!! Let's look at the RNS: Revenue growth has been driven by the switch-off of FM radio in Norway, the introduction of the EU Radio Equipment Directive ('RED') in June 2017 WHY ADD : (the latter encouraging some customers to bring forward orders from the second half of the year) and the first revenues for Smart Audio (expected to be circa GBP1.4 million for the first half). The Group has also benefited from the decline in Sterling against the US Dollar since H1 2016, with revenues expected to increase 26% in US Dollar terms for the first half of 2017. WHY SAY : The decline in the dollar in the last few weeks may mean that there will be less of an impact in the second half. "Trading for the first half of the year has been stronger than anticipated WHY THEN ADD but it is too early to determine Frontier's full year profitability (we're not stupid, no need to prepare us for the worst, again). WHY FURTHER CAUTION WITH Whilst some of the drivers of growth in H1 are short-term in nature, the underlying trends for our Radio business are positive. This strong performance in Radio provides a solid foundation on which to build our presence in Smart Audio." | the drewster
01/9/2017 13:39 | "The outcome for the full year will be determined over the next few weeks..." But if that was the case what else could they put Drewster? Maybe I'm just too optimistic for my own good! | impvesta
01/9/2017 13:13 | Imp - we'll just agree to differ - i, along with holders of well over 500,000 new shares were massively underwhelmed, add in that "The outcome for the full year will be determined over the next few weeks..." and the subsequent silence, and I think it's just a very poor show. | the drewster
01/9/2017 12:48 | Having just re-read the July RNS I think "dire toned" is way too harsh. I read it as positive but cautious. It is the results which will do the talking for them. They will only get slated further on the BBs if they go OTT on the optimism and then fail to meet expectations. | impvesta
01/9/2017 12:16 | rich - they RNS'd a "materially ahead of expectations" in May, and followed up with the dire toned RNS in July. | the drewster
01/9/2017 11:22 | I'm still invested here from a few years back, I think the only thing that will drive the share price much higher is positive results and an upgrading of future expectations. | richardc77
01/9/2017 10:18 | PR ... they haven't got the faintest idea!!! They contract in the grim-reaper to do their "major contract win" and "materially ahead of expectations" RNS's | the drewster
01/9/2017 10:00 | I think FST have screwed up on the PR release side...yet again! Story is on business wire. Why not on RNS-non Regulatory announcement? Heads should roll. | monty panesar
01/9/2017 08:42 | Usual sedate share price reaction. With Google's voice activation devices out, we ought to have a feel now for full year. | the drewster
01/9/2017 08:26 | A very good sign! | monty panesar
01/9/2017 07:15 | EMail this am from FST Blaupunkt chooses Frontier Silicon smart audio technology London, 1 September 2017 Frontier Silicon, a leading provider of consumer audio technologies, announces that iconic German audio brand, Blaupunkt, has chosen the company’s Minuet technology platform to power two new smart audio devices with Chromecast built-in. Chromecast built-in is Google’s audio streaming platform which enables smart speakers to access via Wi-Fi over 150 online music services, such as Spotify, Pandora and iHeartRadio. Frontier Silicon is one of a very small number of solution providers working with Google on this technology. Frontier’s Minuet design platform provides a complete toolkit for brands and manufacturers to develop smart audio devices with Chromecast built-in quickly and cost-effectively. The two Blaupunkt speakers are the MR 100 and PMR 100 – both with Chromecast built-in, Wi-Fi multi-room, Bluetooth and aux-in..........etc | taffy100
31/8/2017 08:58 | Yep. Getting quite a bit of news. | monty panesar
30/8/2017 18:22 | Here they come! "Both Amazon and Microsoft have been eager to get their AI on third-party devices, presumably to draw people back into their own products and services. Indeed Google today announced that several third-party speakers will be getting Google Assistant, namely the Anker Zolo Mojo, Mobvoi TicHome Mini, and Panasonic GA10." | rob_evans
29/8/2017 19:48 | Sonos sends out invites for smart speaker reveal on October 4 - Sonos may have the expertise to do this themselves, but using a Minuet module would be a lot easier - fingers crossed! | rob_evans
28/8/2017 20:31 | The Sonos smart speaker with microphone hits the FCC Supporting “multiple voice platforms and music services” | rob_evans
28/8/2017 16:57 | The global spread of DAB continues: Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday. | life of crime
21/8/2017 10:34 | Presumably until the management team prove they are able to actually deliver, they will trade at a significant discount to their peers? | the drewster
19/8/2017 22:03 | I agree loc. FST due to past failures is trading at just 1x sales when the sector average is above 6x.to be trading at somewhere between 2.5-3x sales by end of next year is a real possibility....If they can deliver. | monty panesar
19/8/2017 16:18 | It looks like Google Home is catching up with Amazon Echo: It is good to see the FST share price has moved past the £1 barrier, but it has a long way to go. I will monitor progress until the end of the next FY, which finishes on 31 Dec 2018. That happens to be exactly 500 days from today. If we can get an announcement of a UK DAB switchover in the meantime and Google Home takes off, then things could look very positive by then. I am optimistic that the days of being stuck below £1 are behind us and we will be nearer £3 by the end of 2018. We shall see... | life of crime
18/8/2017 17:45 | "The rise yesterday was accompanied by a significant jump in volume and that is up again already this morning. This suggests to me that FST has been spotted by an institution." Or a tipster and bought some shares? | she-ra |
