Such an understated thread, I love it.

SILVER just warming up the engines.

When it goes through it's old high c $50 I may open a bottle of o% alcohol beer.

After the earthquakes perhaps PM's will hold up.

Yep I'm looking higher as well after a brief scary drop below the recent gold low of $1208.

As far as H2 goes I'm not so bullish on commodities as the deflationary impulse resumes.

Looks like the start of a big correction which could be quick and scary. Just as I feared, the move up in the miners was not confirmed by gold; it stalled out at $1263 against my target of €1266. $1190 should hold.

Good call MRThomas, no-one ever picks the top exactly but it certainly didn't seem likely to break the £10.40 mark IMHO anyway so let's see if the downside volatility returns again and we trend lower for a few days...

Still very dovish words from Yellen and most of her colleagues so assuming nothing changes in the end of month FOMC meeting and statement then re-entry points after that are possible, especially as no further meetings until June.

The better than anticipated start to the US earnings quarter has also knocked PMs. Money will be churning elsewhere for a while I suspect and then full beam on Brexit!

Some very good news coming out of fres, and with some strength in silver, it seems deserved. Sadly for me I have no position as IG have kicked me off their trading site ( long story)

Read VSA's note on Fresnillo (FRES), out this morning, by visiting www.research-tree.com …
“FRES’ gold production has been rising strongly in recent periods driven by higher gold grades at Fresnillo mine. Higher throughput at Saucito II offset expected grade weakness resulting in stronger gold production of 21.6koz, up 8% YoY and 3% QoQ. Stronger recoveries at Herradura and Noche Buena should also mean that the higher rate of production can be maintained. Meanwhile, the San Julian project remains on track for commissioning of the leaching plant in Q2 2016 and the flotation plant in Q4 2016…”

Well sold at 10.05 but willing to buy back if goes to 9 again as it does a few times this year too much uncertainty out there as Topicel said to me cash is king all of the best

grand break will probably be a pent up jump. Fres never dropped like HOC and maybe HOC more shorted. If this lunacy continues may copy PAFs effort today.

Well ABC, maybe there are some legacy issues from the deeper fall in value of Fresnillo last year and people are keeping clear for a bit. MRThomas might also have a point that others have noticed the bouncing around between nine and ten pounds and, accordingly, jumping a little earlier to lock in profits in case the same happens again.

Of course that is always possible but I still think - and I might have said this before, lol - that hold and accumulate on dips in these volatile times is the thing to do with PM related investments. Jamesiebaby is spread all over the sector it seems, whereas I prefer to stick to shares in gold/silver and, occasionally, an ETF in those metals.

Ultimately, if the Brexits and Trumps and migrations and China and dollar/yens of this world keep worrying the markets then I'd bet gold in particular will keep being favoured through the summer. Nothing to deep in all that but if it is third time lucky for Fres at a tenner I'll be there!

abc - agreed with better off in HOC, however, it is good to have a mix. I hold the large caps, mid caps, small caps and micro.

I find it useful to overlay the price of silver with the chart of the specific company to provide an indication as to where it should go compared to historical levels.

Thinking of selling when it get to just above £10 then buying in again when it get to around £9 as that happen twice this year already. I sitting on profits so that helps but think we in for a real roller coaster next few months with the markets

Fres investors would have been better off in hoc with hindsight. It's done a blinkin triple since Feb! Amazing.

Fres did have a bigger crash than Rrs so I suppose that goes some way to explaining the discrepency.

Rrs:£79-£;36=55% approx
Fres:£22-£6=75% approx

Topicel to be fair Rrs has been a star performer vis a vis Fres. It's more fair to say the UK market does not like fresnillo for whatever reason.

I had a look at the historic price charts for both Fres and Rrs. Rrs is only 15% away from its all time high (£79). Whereas Fres, get this, is 120% away from its all time high ! (£22).

What gives?

Who needs gold or silver, lol.

And crook it is! London is simply not interested in Fresnillo or Rangold in the same way New York currently loves Barrick, Newmont and even Gold Corp...answers anyone?

And Jamesiebaby seems to have put the mockers on $16 Ag too, lol.
