I think I'll have some fun updating this chart over time. :

---------------------------

Do you reckon it could revert to the overhead trend? Would be interested to hear your analysis - as an indirect holder, through GPM. I rather considered this an elephant that would be unlikely to gallop, though it has been walking fairly vigorously of late...

Raise rates - are you kidding?

They could soon be adopting a negative interest rate regime to fall into line with other countries ECB etc.............

The demand for gold remains rather solid, and even silver is bouncing strongly from recent profit-taking.

Plenty who are not yet convinced by the recent more general rallies in equities and commodities or that further volatility isn't just around the corner.

Still looks like a hold here in these conditions. Signs of the Fed maybe raising rates again dependent on the US Payroll data this lunchtime could derail things so watch carefully the reaction to gold after 1.30 p.m. GMT...

more likely to make money on the downside then up.. in the next few months. Unless silver prices rocket up or dollar slumps - I cannot see a reason to be long Fres at above £10.

Short term, whipsawing, longer term, should do well upside.
Just looking at silver to get back up to $15.40 again.

Quite a weak finish into the close. Not something I like to see. Maybe we need a bit more consolidation or a quick 5% correction before moving higher. Results tomorrow morning. Glad I've got no open positions.

2% rise in Fres and Hoc this morning.
Edited 4% now at HOC

I can't see FRES results being other than as was suggested on the 26th.
THe smart money is already in, witness the recent run up.

I closed my shorts Friday. The price action in FRES does not indicate a near term sell off. However,RRS has had a 5% sell off so FRES could play catch up.

I suspect there could be one more leg up first. Gold could get to $1270-80.

I have started to short Fres as per my target when it goes over £10. Will keep adding shorts at stages if it continues to go up . Recent trend -Fres goes above £10 once a year and then downwards from then. Usually tanks after results. Buy below £7 and sell above £10. Can't see anything coming in results that is going to get Fres past £11.

Interesting you have noticed the drop in silver and feel that Fres was a buy despite that, on the basis that it was holding up.

More importantly Hectorp, why has silver slid? Could the market just not be reacting yet, as far as Fres goes anyway?

These moves are slow so I could imagine a delayed drop is possible, especially with the results out on Tuesday...they will not be fantastic for 2015 and with the run here since before Xmas profit taking or 'sell on the news' decisions could be possible.

However, if the coward guidance is good then the reversal may not happen and the march upwards continues. Still an accumulate share in these uncertain times IMHO, but maybe after a slight retrenchment? Didn't ABC suggest 950p?

Either way, it'll resume the recent trend soon enough I suspect.

Yes I highlighted the great mega bull run in the HUI began in November 2000 at around 35. Don't forget the metals are very volatile and the hui did get to 99 a few weeks ago. Could it go sub 100 again? Easily imho if gold breaks $1000. Of course this is all theoretical and not a prediction. It's a matter of weighing up all the probabilities. $1300 gold on a weekly close and I would turn long term bullish.
