05/7/2018 09:01 | Bitcoin is too expensive and inefficient, unless changes are brought in, it will be redundant. Smart contracts are great for assassin's, etc. In reality who wants a smart contract? I work and get paid based on the delivery, would it be better if it was a smart contract? Not for me anyway. Smart contracts are currently escrow. Again, the only thing of interest is the tangle, the rest is garbage, IMHO. | mcsean2164
05/7/2018 08:04 | Bitcoin will be the fiat/ store of value of the future, Ethereum will be the smart contracts of the future. Coins/ blockchains like SAFEX will be the amazon of the future. Most coins will die. BWTFDIK. | sideshowbull
05/7/2018 00:02 | So yeah, if FBT went down the blockchain route, it would be a scam, like all the other scams and might pay off very well as you suggest. | mcsean2164
05/7/2018 00:01 | SSB, So for scrypt and sha256, the blockchain is just transactions. Sure the hash power can be put to use but currently it is an absolutely dreadful waste of energy. I admit, I lost interest and haven't really looked into smart contracts, the only thing of any interest to me has been miota as it could be useful for autonomous vehicles (think platooning). The issue for me with every coin is that they are uncontrolled and anonymous, meaning people can do really bad things with crypto. Every ico I have seen has been total BS and I have yet to see anything useful come out of the various ico's. Decentralized banking has positives and negatives, I am still unconvinced that the positives outweigh the negatives. I admit I am disgusted with modern banking which is all about ripping off people, whether it is through mortgages, pensions, fees, etc. In my view, if people worked together there would be no need for bankers and the world would be way better off. So decentralized good sounds good until ransomware lands in the local NHS or someone does something awful with crypto..... | mcsean2164
04/7/2018 18:28 | 400p -8000 p if they use the word blockchain delivery system. :-) BWTFDIK | sideshowbull

04/7/2018 14:57 | Is the latest fbt twitter post an indication of what their plan is? Mergers and acquisitions for cloud companies 🤔🤑 | sickness

04/7/2018 11:11 | Great writeup NickB Can you add that it allows multiple editors to collaborate easily together anywhere in the world? Completely obvious but it is the biggest selling point for Blackbird video editor and not obvious to everyone... I'd suggest posting it to SS as it is much better than FBT's attempts! | mcsean2164
04/7/2018 10:02 | That should get a bit of notice. | sideshowbull
04/7/2018 09:45 | Gosh that’s a long post someone needs to do the elevator pitch! | nickb
04/7/2018 09:43 | Part One The Media industry Problem Media has expanded rapidly over the past few years but the tools, the legacy tools are designed for a different era. Workflow is too complex to be efficient Consumers expect instant on demand viewing results for news / sport and social which means the media supply production chain (in the factory) now has increased time pressure to be effectively first to market to gain a monetisation edge. So huge pressure that old production methods were not really designed for hence new Cloud native tools are needed. Our solution our business opportunity Blackbird is designed for a Cloud future in the media industry its Cloud Native our competitors are trying to run old legacy systems in the Cloud through Virtualisation and old Codecs never designed for the task. Part Two So here are 20 reasons to use Blackbird driven tools 1. Blackbird codec is the ONLY Editing video codec designed for the Cloud, it is Cloud-Native. 2. No software to install it works across multiple devices anywhere in the world. 3. Frame Accurate workstation smoothness of moving video through a timeline (hugely important for the user) 4. Low bandwidth 5. java script a new important update 6. Clip and share in a simple viewer (yet to be exploited for consumers but great potential imho) 7. Fairly Simple suite of tools to use compared to the over complex (for many jobs)Legacy editing tools. 8. Blackbird can if necessary plug in to old established legacy workflows to give traditional clients a Cloud Boost into the future. 9. No huge up front costs compared to Avid's Cloud solution so less capital risk. 10. Very wide across the board potential usage situations. (so large market to go after) 11. Infrastructure sales can make Blackbird a digital juice that is like part of an OS rather than a bloated software solution. 12. it can work in the background and be transparent pain free (holy grail of factory workflow) 13. Ai is for Cloud so Ai could accelerate moving the work to the Cloud from old workflows. 14. Can work Hybrid on the customers own network or public Cloud AWS Azure 15. Can start work editing around 20 seconds behind live with a growing file so no waiting to start work 16. Very fast publishing and if in the Blackbird codec to the consumer no rendering required (making new converted video files extra time storage and cost) change the edit and it does not need yet more new files to be made (more new files more conversions) the edit is made live in the viewer so offering huge flexibility in custom versions and updated versions of a video that gives Media companies fast response to changing narratives. 17. Input to our platform covers just about any known video format 18. Scalability you can ramp up and down the 'factory production line' on demand 19. A more inclusive workflow for group share working 20. Years of development work, successful real world early versionuse and testing trials. A lot of investment has gone into this! 21. Its Unique. Part Three This is an attempt to show the difference between other solutions and Blackbird using an Analogy A book rather than a video! Imagine having content that is a 500 page book You have been tasked to publish 10 quotes from that book from pages 35, 120, 60, etc Blackbird word editor workflow Firstly as the book was being written it was being sent to the Cloud in the Blackbird ink! So its already in the cloud in a format designed to edit. Open your web browser Log into the account on any device see the book go straight to page 35 of the book then highlight the quote then clip then go straight to page 120 highlight then clip on and on until your finished then hit publish. That is a smooth and pain free process at the factory! The Non Blackbird way Firstly it may not be in the Cloud so you will have to image scan ALL the book in some old text format ink hey its worked for the last 200 years stop complaining. Log into your traditional software located on your computer ( oh you may need to travel to work first!) Then go to page 35 oh importantly you cannot do that until you have downloaded the ENTIRE book first that will take a long time. PAIN Good news the book has downloaded to your computer sure it takes up a lot of space on your disk drive but hey we can now get to work. Do all the clipping like before then hit publish BANG Oh no it has to RENDER (make a new file) then upload to the Cloud yet more delay. PAIN Done What? Problem Important people have decided they don't want the quote on page 120 can you remove it. PAIN that means I have to make a new rendered file and upload it again, more time more pain. Blackbird editor no problem just remove the clip and hit the publish button no render no additional file upload faster to the finish line this is too easy even a robot could do it. Multiply all that thousands a time a day in a big media organisation with deadlines and pressures then decide if Blackbird is the way to go. It's an Analogy chaps not perfect! Hope it helps a little. | nickb
04/7/2018 07:32 | Thanks Nick, when you get a chance can you put them in one post and I will get it highlighted with PLUS1 which will go to you.. | sideshowbull

03/7/2018 23:37 | Well this is an attempt at trying to illustrate our advantage. The amount of work to do this properly is a lot more than i have put into this! Anyway i have split it into 3 parts The Problem 20 reasons to use Blackbird A Book rather than video as an Analogy to explain it in a non technical way | nickb
03/7/2018 23:36 | IM is in charge now and from there latest pitch it's hard to find a reason to use Blackbird. | mcsean2164
03/7/2018 18:51 | Invest360 you've hit the nail on the head. The problem is that until IM came along they weren't getting any input from somebody who understands selling to very large businesses. Telling people about features ("my computer is red")doesn't win anything whereas saying what the benefits are does("it makes it easy to find if I mislay it" especially when coupled with USPs. When pitching for work we always got the sales pitch down to two sides of A4 or less and made sure from talking to the right people in the customer exactly what problems they were looking to solve. Then when you talked to them it was easy to concentrate on what mattered to them and how you could help them resolve the issues. Then both they and you win. | chriscallen |
