26/5/2002 10:43 | England's struggle to draw 2-2 with Cameroon shows how difficult a time Ireland will have next weekend, with or without Roy Keane. Cameronn aren't the Olympic and African champions for nothing. Ireland's only hope of progressing is beating a very depleted Germany and Saudi Arabia. If we can't beat Saudi, we don't deserve to progress in any case. TP | the player
26/5/2002 00:30 | Fancy Raul (Spain) with a few quid on him at 13/1 with Paraquay ,South Africa and slovenia in their starting stage group B. With either Cameroon/saudi or Roy Keaneless in the second round . But I have taken odds for England to remain winless before departing for home at the end of group F stage. As to who will win the competition it's will be either France or Argentina ,and dark horses Spain/Portugal enjoy | mealiff

25/5/2002 19:48 | I believe Italy will win the Cup, as they really don't meet any serious opposition until the semi-final (and I think I can say that Germany aren't serious opposition with their injuries), when they meet the winner of the Portugal/Spain quarter-final. An each way bet has to be worth it at 5-1. Pauleta is a good bet, as Portugal will be banging them in, in the opening round matches and they could easily get as far as the semi-finals. Question, do goals scored in the 3rd/4th place playoff count towards top-scorer? cheers guyspors | guysports
25/5/2002 17:34 | pommy - here's hoping you don't win your bet....Polska for the WC! | piscean
25/5/2002 10:01 | Ive back Pauleta from Portugal to be top goalscorer. 3/4 of my stake win at 40/1 and 1/4 stake the place . He has a good chance of banging a few in in the group against Korea, Poland and USA and Portugal have a good chance to progress thru to the later stages. | pommy

28/3/2002 11:18 | have not checked the draw but a repeat of the euro 2000 final is on again IMO Italy/France in the 2002 World cup final... | the councillor
28/3/2002 11:09 | As a Scot, I have to say that France were in a different class to Scotland who were fortunate to escape with a 5-0 defeat. | bothkennar
28/3/2002 10:45 | last point the most valid abix! it's nice to watch 'freeflow' attacking football, but that game was PS2 stuff! how long mr. vogts to remain after seeing that shambles? stu. | stucom
28/3/2002 10:41 | Definitly Man Utd and probably France. Vierra's not what he was, Henry's in a sulk, Pires is injured and Scotland are at their lowset ebb in living memory. There's the climate to consider as well. | abix47
28/3/2002 10:37 | Disappointments? which one Man-U or France? | gerard j

28/3/2002 09:34 | Allons enfants de la Patriiie, le jour de gloire est arrive... France 5 - Scotland 0 I agree that Scotland are not one of the top team in the world, but fantastic confidence building before the World Cup. England? not good enough I'm afraid to say, but might go through the first round. Holland - did not qualified - was the only team which could have denied France the double. PS: Man-Utd will be Champions of Europe. Gerard J | gerard j
