18/10/2019 17:47 | chestnuts, let me try that one for you. I can't guarantee this is 100%. As you may know a mobile call actually travels for most of it's journey over the fixed network (ie underground cables). Backhaul is what gets from the mast to fixed network. The transceiver is a transmitter + a receiver (see what they did they). Wireless backhaul is generally cheaper and easier than running a cable, especially for short term deployments (festivals and the like). If I understand correctly these beam their signals in a straight line to their partner, whereas the antennae need to send and receive signal from any direction. There is less contention for frequency therefore with backhaul - and in fact so long a you have a pair of transceivers both using the same frequency it may not matter what that frequency is. That's probably a significant over simplification, but that's the limit of my techyness. | kazoom
18/10/2019 17:33 | The issue you have is you that your opinion is already negative, so you take each announcement and look at it from that biased view. You need to look at it from a neutral standpoint. | beeks of arabia
18/10/2019 17:32 | chestnuts. I understand where you are coming from with post 3645. However shareholders were looking forward to 5g and the shareprice reacted accordingly - this didn't transpire and the shareprice crashed back to where we are now - circle of life! Now we have a business unit to flog off - lets say it goes for 1m - we have 1m of debt to pay off over the next year, and are left with a profitable business that is growing well. I'd say the share price should be a bit higher than it is now eh? | beeks of arabia
18/10/2019 17:30 | Chestnuts have you looked at the website on products they sell? This is the morpheus tranceiver | nimbo10
18/10/2019 16:41 | wise cat Filtronic developed a 5G Antenna with Nokia and the Antenna was designed for the wrong frequency and when the news came out the share price collapsed a back haul transceiver is not a antenna unless they have just changed the name, maybe some cone can clarify what a back haul transceiver is. | chestnuts
18/10/2019 10:36 | c nuts what company you talking about. FTC has just received over £10m of orders for class-leading 5G Backhaul transceivers. Long-term demand for this product also appears to be good. They have a broad offering, let's see what they say next week | wisecat2
18/10/2019 09:58 | Good morning 2 yrs ago shareholders were looking forward to 5g as ftc had a very good antenna business at least thats what shareholders were thinking, i am very disappointed that the management have totally missed the 5g expansion which is surely coming, as for the rest of business, yes it could and should be profitable , but they still have to pay $2m out so that is going to drag down the sp, but then they are selling the loss making antenna business and with better management could exploit the 5g explosion which is coming, very short sighted of FTC management, what will they get for it about £2m afterall it as not made a profit yet. | chestnuts
18/10/2019 08:48 | Looking much more interesting suddenly. I wonder whether someone like SOLI will be running their eyes over FTC. | mad foetus
18/10/2019 08:32 | Loafofbread, agree that the company might now be vulnerable, but personally i would be annoyed with anything less than 20p. | mesquida
18/10/2019 08:30 | Good point wisecat, i suspect that there will be many who turned off their screens last night at close of business and so are blissfully unaware. Next Wednesday will be very interesting. | mesquida
18/10/2019 08:28 | Decent note out from finncap this morning. Now they have cleared the decks I would hope for a bid for the whole company. | loafofbread
18/10/2019 08:24 | You may have got cheap stock, not everyone has seen the RNS | wisecat2
18/10/2019 08:10 | Managed to get a decent wodge. | beeks of arabia
18/10/2019 08:06 | Marvellous! | bazworth
18/10/2019 08:04 | I'm back into FTC again. f | fillipe
17/10/2019 17:36 | Or is it because the losses in the business that is up for sale are no longer being included in the group figure. This of course implies that the losses in this business have been £1.2million, which underlines how important it is that they get rid of it. Shorn of this division it would appear that we have a nice business going forward, certainly deserving of more than a £16million market cap. | mesquida
17/10/2019 16:56 | I see it as fairly positive. The claim has been settled with an amicable outcome and Filtronic are reporting healthy growth with their continuing operations, including the expansion of their manufacturing capacity. Not only that, but whatever company has made the claim continue to use Filtronic as their supplier. Had our Market Cap have been substantially higher then this all may have been bad news! Onwards and upwards from here! I may of course be completely wrong! | bazworth
17/10/2019 16:51 | It doesn't sound that bad to me. Could have been far worse. Current 5G work/sales all going very well. | angus17
15/10/2019 11:33 | Wonder when we will see the first plume of white smoke??!! Sheesh, please wake me up when it all happens! | bazworth
08/10/2019 14:43 | Approx 2M of buys have pushed this from 7.15 to 7.85p At circa 7.5p that is £150K worth of total trades in the last month | buywell3
08/10/2019 14:39 | This is what has happened in the last month | buywell3
08/10/2019 14:15 | For me a sale at any price will be a good result, because it will stem the losses and allow the market to value the rest of the business on a more grown-up PE. | mesquida |
