I am certainly expecting a good week as newsflows in the industry continue. It's becoming apparent who the first adopters will be and the technology companies that they will use to deliver 5G. I've seen nothing to suggest that FTC will not be at the forefront of this, with their expertise in the area and their excellent relations with these companies.Obviously we need to see confirmation from FTC on this, however by that point the price would be many multiples higher than current. It's sometimes worth taking that risk, then accumulating as the story unfolds.I don't think I have been this excited about a company prospects for years. I think the heady heights of yesteryear are gone, however I certainly can envisage a 3 figure share price come the start of next year.

AT&T ($150B revenue) - Nokia named as 5G network equipment supplier
Verizon ($200B revenue) - Nokia successfully tested 5G as partner

South Korea SK Telecom successfully tested 5G data transfer with Nokia
No news yet on UK but estimated requirement: 1million antennae - looks like Huawei may be ruled out leaving Nokia, Ericsson as suppliers

Rob Smith, CEO, Filtronic

“We are delighted Nokia has chosen to work with Filtronic on this prestigious development. Our ultra wide band antenna and filter related IP are being used in this design and are a proven fit with the acclaimed Nokia AirScale radios.”

Found on ano site

RE: SCSW

It is a copyrighted, subscription only letter and it would be illegal to do that. Imho the key takeaway is this (DYOR on the technical terms):
1. In conjunction with Nokia, FTC has developed a Massive MIMO (mMIMO) antenna.
2. Nokia contracted (in July) to supply T-Mobile with US$3.5 billion of 5G Network equipment for T-Mobile's first US nationwide 5G rollout.
3. This deal is probably related to a US$2m mMIMO contract FTC announced last month.
4. FTC's CEO says “if you were to assume Massive MIMO had to be applied to T-Mobile’s 110,000 masts, in theory it would be several $100 millions of business for Filtronic.”

They won't upgrade all masts and not all will be upgraded using FTC gear, but there is the potential for some truly colossal business for FTC.

Does anyone have a ballpark for what percentage of antennas FTC technology will be used in and how much revenue FTC get per antenna? That seems to me the key thing and I have no visibility on it.

It's not that hard to find actually.

I agree with not breaking copyright, but equally even though its is NOT a prediction, it is not imho the sort of statement that should be made privately.

"Over six weeks the stock has doubled from about 11p to over 23p, adding £22 million in market value, although an analyst at Panmure Gordon, Filtronic's broker, has yet to raise forecasts." extract from Edmond Jackson

Has the broker actually got an analyst? Maybe he's asleep at the wheel, not interested and just cut and pastes on results day to justify a minimum salary.

WAKE UP This company is going somewhere UP

hi 2mex - where did that Rob Smith quote come from? (did I miss a link somewhere)

I thought that they had otherwise been quite quiet on the scale of the 5G impact so far.

If you look at FTC presentation either the last page or the one before they reckon UK needs 1 million antennas alone , never mind what the rest of the world needs
