Logging on from mobile.
Laptop infected with ransomware they want money to decrypt contents.
They want £350 to release the encrypted files.
Any one suffered the same and how did they cleared it if there is a way.
The particular ransomware is called Gandgrab v5.0.4 and apparently there is no software to get rid of it.
Beware of emails coming in your inbox .

Depends what the results are like! If they show decent progress in US they will go up more. It’s not going to be massive growth yet due to being relatively new venture, hopefully update later in the year will show much stronger growth. Things generally seem to be picking up so if all the planets align may get back to £35 by end of the month.

I think it’s a great time to launch non-alcoholic spirits with more people seeming to be tee-total than ever before but I’d never pay £20 a bottle for a non-alcoholic spirit! May as well buy a bottle of elderflower cordial for about £18 less for about 4 times the volume... Good to see as all rally in the FEVR share price over the last few days. No idea why. Maybe people are realising that it’s the best time to snap up a bargain in various shares like these.

O/T

The year before last someone I know said Fever-Tree was a fad... anyway it turns out they stocked up on lots of tonics after Christmas!

Blimey, if word gets around how great they are there will be a resurgence in a certain part of the UK...

Whey aye, man!

SogoesitThank you too for your feedback, most interesting. On stop losses, I don't use them on equity holdings (just use price alerts via ADVFN) but do on any spread bets.Do want to use leverage a bit more as well, spread bets (long) on shares I would be happy to buy but only use SB's if no dividend and tight spreads.Currently about 60% cash so focussing on building up a buy (the dip mainly) list. Just a bit jittery about the B word, is a no deal already priced in or more drops to come? (post the 14th!).Good luck to for this year.

Thank you very much DD, appreciate your ideas.

I'm pretty sure I could learn the following from you ;-):
a) When to sell. I'm lousy at this. I either hold-on too long (dither) these days or miss the signals. Maybe this is the corollary of "running winners" and I tend not to "cut losses" soon enough?
Although I sold everything after the peak of the dotcom bubble (25% from peak) and was cashed up prior to 2008 I missed this latest one altogether. I am still holding albeit sold down BOO and FEVR only to feed-back-in at some high prices, but better exposures nevertheless.
On this front some discipline would be a good thing for me so I like the strategy you put forward and the decision-making criteria you plan to use.

b) Agree with buying the dips. I think Villa sees a bear market/recession ahead. I'm not so sure, leastwise in the US but elsewhere possibly, so I am currently "buying dips". But this should average out for LTHs, as we tend to hold for long periods, and if I combine it with "feed-in" purchases to build a position or accumulate. I do think, however, China is recessionary so this could bear out to world markets.

c) Stop losses - I don't "trade" anymore and am wary of signalling to the market so I don't use any stop losses. But this issue could be covered by your idea of selling out on an xx% fall from an "over-valued" peak. I did this with FEVR where I was following (with you and Villa) the valuations quite closely (using the PEG) but I need to do this across the board, I think. FEVR was also special in that it demonstrably popped in one day. Would I have been disciplined enough if that opportunity hadn't arisen? Probably not. So I think this is a good strategy to look at.

One thing I've learned from last year is to pay attention to trends and changes in trend. If I had done that last year I would have been in a much better place. The better place would be to have had more cash on hand now than I do. It's always best to have cash readily available! I do, however, use CSN as a "near cash" holding so have been able to sell down this holding to buy in elsewhere.

My bigger winners so far this financial year (capital only):
PPH / SSPG / FEVR (sold-down, currently waiting having fed back in partially) / BOO (sold-out feeding back in) / PRSM

My biggest losers:
XPP / NVDA / GVC / RPC (pending a corporate event) / FDEV (say no more, Lol, but still holding!).

Finally, we all need to be lucky!
So, wishing you luck for 2019 and thanks again for sharing your ideas.

I think there is still a fair bit of growth left in the UK market for FEVR... my guess is that the bumper summer and Xmas sales will show great results come Jan. I also assume that increased sales and upscaling of production will cause an increase in profitability. 2019 will be a much better year than 2018.

Hi Sogoesit.Doubt you could learn anything from me.Think the main one is to protect my profits - sell up if a holding falls to 20% below its recent high (bank profits sooner) then buyback if trend reverses. Possibly also use some major TA signals (200SMA, RSI etc) to support the maximisation of profits. Have seen my paper profit halve since Oct which is soul destroying after putting so much time into it.Take more advantage of buying the dips (will put this right soon!) and need to have more faith in my instincts.Cut my losses sooner and run my winners longer - suppose this is the panacea that everyone aims for but probably never achieves (constantly anyway!). However, I do let my losers run too long even though I set a 15% loss to sell up, but I never adhere to it - mainly because with some highly illiquid stock I hold this can happen easily and quickly and then recover just as fast. Therefore I need to set stop loss levels (not auto) aligned with share volatility rather than a blanket 15%.Also considering stricter rules around selling up at a profit, that said I don't want to be constrained too much by numerical rules, after all I buy to hold forever (or at least until my rolling/updated target has been exceeded) so unless the story changes why sell?.Learn by mistakes and make the most of new experiences.DD

VillaThanks, all the best for 2019.Personally have started to jot down a few learning points on the experiences over the past three months or so. It's the first market correction I've experienced and whilst not a pleasant experience it has flagged a few weaknesses and room for improvement........all (or most!) I will aim to address!.DD

Looking forward to good news from FEVR in January. Perhaps the bigger news mid year but at least on track. Have faith. Don’t listen to the posts saying it will hit a tenner as the global market trend does not indicate this. FEVR still leads, I think US is doing well from what I can figure out. If so, profits will go up and up until it gets bought out at a premium. Most of the share price fall is due to global issues which have bashed almost all AIM and other shares, that will naturally return. £40 by Easter if trump and Xi resolve their differences.
