Nice one Dave! Agree I won't be panic selling just yet following NY's in-depth analysis. It's all down to taste in this market. Big job for Schweppes to do as Fevertree have raised the bar significantly. On that note, has anyone tasted the new offering from Schweppes? Looks like it won't be in the shops til next month, but be handy to know how it compares to FT.

Diageo is looking at it, when will it pounce?

NY Boy,
Fevertree is a brand established not easy to beat up in taste and quality.
The company is running ahead in profits and earnings since day 1 and will continue
as new markets been looked up and becoming succesful.

Can't help thinking that a large chunk of FEVR's success is down to people discovering the mixers for themselves, then word of mouth to friends, then opinion leaders in the drinks press.
A big splurge of American marketing spend seems like the old way of doing things.
Schweppes 1783,1784,1785 whatever, is literally 'dated'.
Modern gin drinkers imho don't give a toss about Schweppes's history.
But let's wait and see. More 'noise' may actually boost FEVR sales!

It'll be interesting to see how the 'Schweppes Attack' goes. In Spain at the mo and have just tasted Fevertree Lemon Tonic for the first time. Very impressed. The gins not bad either!

Hi Fever-Tree, have you called Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus yet?

Pepsi Super Bowl and Lady Gaga this year 2017 ...

Why not the Fever-Tree [madagascan cola] Super Bowl sometime in the future ;)

More product placement, and subliminal advertising required by Fever-Tree.

Fever-Tree, get those Fever-Tree bottles in more music videos.

LONDON — Coca Cola is spending £10 million to relaunch Schweppes in the UK as part of a fightback against posh new entrants to the tonic market such as Fever-Tree and Fentimans.

The drinks giant is relaunching its core Schweppes tonic range with newly designed bottles and plans to spend £10 million on a marketing campaign that will include sponsorship of ITV's prime time Jonathan Ross Show.

At the same time, Coca Cola is launching a new, premium brand of Schweppes tonics, dubbed Schweppes 1783, designed for mixing with upmarket spirits — and not just gin. One of its 6 new flavours in the range is salty lemon tonic, designed for mixing with tequila.

The relaunch is Coca Cola's biggest ever investment in the brand and follows the rise of rival tonic brands such as Fever-Tree and Fentimens is recent years. More:

Good find Wetdream. Hmmm yes the US market do like the different flavours to mess up their spirits - Pink Peppercorn and Hibiscus?? All that effort making the gin and they put that it - shocking!Sure the folks at Fevertree are more aware of this than me!

Juzzer100,

My thinking was that Pepsi might go for Fevertree just to p!ss off Coke.
imho Coke will spend a 'packet' on Schweppes 'cos they can.
Pepsi could act smarter and avoid wasting $$$s by buying FEVR-assuming they think it's worth it(incl premium).
The key will probably be FEVR showing they can make progress in the US relatively unsupported. After all, to most US companies, the World market IS the US!

Juzzer100,

Apologies-I'm way out of touch with the US market. You'd better google the info yourself!

Pepsi already has a mixer called.....yes.....wait for it.....Pepsi 1893! AARRGGH

Shows how imaginative (NOT) Coke's new play with Schweppes is!

Well it's a full moon today, 5 October at 1940hrs, perhaps that should help for the Astro traders and for the Gann Traders into stock market lunar vibrations.

Wet dream - following your line of thinking wouldn't Fevertree be the perfect acquisition for Coke/Schweppes to move upmarket when the attempted repositioning of Schweppes fails for everyone under the age of 70?

Pepsi only have Britvic tonic at the mo (and it's truly awful) so not a serious player. It would be a brave move for them to go for Fevertree IMHO.

Imho Schweppes trying to move upmarket is like Ford trying to move upmarket.
They discovered that the Ford brand could only take them so far, then their image stopped them in their tracks-so they bought Volvo; Jaguar; Aston Martin to try and crack the prestige market.

Perhaps Pepsi is a more likely acquirer?

Good shout Juzzer. A buy out from Coke would be far more likely than say Diageo. Maybe this is a final throw at the dice to slow down the Fevertree growth juggernaught. I can't see it having much of a dent in FEVR's growth. Schweppes would have to make it taste better and convince people to switch. Neither I believe will be likely.
