For hard core analysts; view all this; I did!

Actually rather comforting listening; very dry; had a wry smile when the Russian guy did not like Russia being referred to as "losers"

The most surprising thing I read there was - they think $5 a gallon is steep??? Ye gods - what must they think when they come over here!
Glad I don't have a car anymore. :)

Anything could happen Cyan - I'm just going to be sure to take advantage on rises.
Are you in yet? Sorry I can't remember - old age doesn't come alone...;)

Here is an optimistic opinion. Thanks to the link from illuminati on the HUR thread.

Personally I have some doubts about his timing but let's hope he is right.

The two birds with one stone theory sounds good to me.
It's all wheels within wheels though - it's been mooted that the Saudis are 'punishing' the US for getting friendlier with Iran.

The job cuts in the North Sea recently have been much trumpeted - but that's politics too.
The cuts were arranged 18 months ago - and a price dip is the excuse they've been waiting for. I have my own theories about why they are trying to terrify everyone about the North Sea's future (it's a post Indy Ref thing up here...:) -
but oil price is the weapon of choice globally now and I prefer that to bommbs.
Sadly I think the bombs will follow at some point.

I'm trying not to get into it all like I used to (conspiracy theorist that I am :) - just watching for rig news and 3D next and hopefully some profit taking, cheers

Time will tell agnabeya. I am open to arguments from both sides of the "what's the Saudi's plan" arguments.
I still see Russia cracking before US shale; maybe they are about killing two birds with one stone.

An interesting read which I have shared.
This section below should offer some reassurance to Falklands oil companies who are years away from production. By the time we are production drill ready the oil price should be much higher .
Convinced its all about shale; the author hints at the time scale for the cracking of the shale industry;

"So, how do I see the shale landscape changing in the U.S. given the current oil price slump? It was pretty awful before the price slump so it can only get worse. The real question is “when will people stop giving these companies money?” When the drilling slows down and production drops—which won't happen until at least mid-2016—we will see the truth about the U.S. shale plays. They only work at high oil prices. Period."

Thorpematte - not sure what you're answering me on with that -I just mentioned the rig position - what conspiracy?

Are you telling me ADVFN let any old hack write their articles for them?
Maybe I'll have a go myself then - and give myself delusions. :D

Kind of Agree, but don't think USA want to upset their own fracking agenda. More like Saudi want to damage that as usa oil gas have re strengthened due to fracking.... Agree small frackers may well go pair shaped..And who will pick up the fracking pieces? They will be well worth it for ""when"" prices return

I earlier mentioned the Saudis effect on the oil price. They are only 1 part of the manipulation.
They get the blame in return for "protection".

The answer to why oil prices went down is the same as why they went up:
Oil commodity brokers/traders.

Traders, large investors & politicians together manipulate oil prices to suit their goals.

US SECRET WEAPON - CONTROL OF OIL: hxxp://youtu.be/B5veaX9BEDM

To drive prices up they hire supertankers & build storage pits ...

hxxps://www.tradingfloor.com/posts/oil-companies-scramble-for-storage-china-boosts-reserves-3298319

..to drive prices down they borrow printed dollars to inflate oil stocks & bonds, encouraging the drilling for oil.

We are currently entering the "Storage" cycle which will drive prices up.

When did the oil drop really start?

Answer:

In june 2014, when it was clear that youth unemployment in the US & globally was higher than thought & ending QE3 was on the FED's agenda.

So Much For QE: hxxp://youtu.be/3cJhWuOwhck

In October, QE3 ended & the oil price dropped again.

Expect QE4 sometime soon, when a majority of frackers become bankrupt.

Same position off the port of Adbidjan as it has been all week. Hasn't shifted an inch as of 13.26 as of today. If it isn't actually drilling there - it must be waiting on a berth, or spare parts before it berths I'd say.

TLP when you say about to depart is that your best guess or fact. Thought it was having new BOP fitted and not due to depart until end of month.

Thorpematte , thanks for that.

Well blow me down with a ton of feathers.
I thought it was just another of his Savoy Lunches stories (naturally, I wouldn't take his word for anything).
Who knew he wrote for the grown ups?
I have him on permanent filter anyway, so can't see what he's writing.
And now I have a vague feeling of disappointment in ADVFN for some reason.

Markfrankie, over on another BB he's claiming to have written these articles, or parts of them.
Doubt it myself. Wonder if ADVFN know he's making these claims?

Truly's spot on.
