06/10/2004 11:24 | PHFC have a very strong balance sheet... and generate good cash flow. i liked the bit about having the local MP on the board.. does make me wonder how it was that FKL were so certain the tunnel plan would fail, hmm... ;)) ..these guys are obviously very shrewd. | 64bit

06/10/2004 11:11 | Why on earth does FKL want to by the Gosport ferry? Would their capital not be better employed in the South Atlantic Oil industry? | ![]() slogsweep

05/10/2004 21:14 | Currypasty--> I know, institutional demand that is! i feel this will rocket on the first day of trading. I'm not applying for any stock, iwth a stock 10z oversubscribed from institutions alone whats the private investor demand going to be like? you'd probably end up with 10 shares at 40p each! Lastminute all over again! I think it will be better to buy on the 14th at 8am! I have read the pospectus through a couple of times - HUGE potential, the demand is no surprise!!! | 2kpromoe

05/10/2004 17:52 | Falkland Island Holdings loses virtually all of yesterday's dramatic gains as the AIM-listed general trading group warns investors of its plans to issue new shares 'substantially lower' than yesterday's closing price. Shares (FKL) in the AIM-listed general trading group (FIH), which traded at 430p in September, soared from 612.5p yesterday and reached 780p before closing at 722.5p. Falkland Islands today explained the substantial rise in its share price as due to 'current strong interest in oil exploration shares and is linked to the group's shareholding in Falkland Oil and Gas Ltd.' FOGL, in which Falkland holds a 18.1% stake, is expected to list on AIM on 14 October. Falkland reminded investors that at the placing price of 40p, its stake in FOGL is worth £5.78 million. More importantly, Falkland pointed out that its plans to buy the rest of the shares in Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Company - which it unveiled on Friday - will involve the issue of new FIH shares 'at a price substantially lower than yesterday's closing mid-market price of 722.5p.' Falkland shares have duly slumped 107.5p, or 15%, to 615p. | ![]() currypasty

05/10/2004 13:28 | I would be quite happy to buy back at £5 :-) Though I've shoved some of the profits into AEY, now THERE'S a quite forum! | aly48
05/10/2004 13:04 | hmm, maybe, but i read that rns slightly differently. it smells like they've already dusted the paperwork for an issue to support the PHFC deal, at, i would guess, about 500p... so that rns is actually telling the market that FKL have been effectively underwritten at that lower price... in which case we can set a new floor. it merely serves to advise holders not to be too surprised if an issue is announced at lower-than-current market price... if i can set a new floor at around 500p, that is a bullish indicator for me.. | 64bit
05/10/2004 12:35 | Got to realistic though, good rise last week, crazy jump yesterday so likely to drop back to reality. Just looks like a good gamble to get some extra shares for the same money invested. I could be right or wrong, time will tell but the RNS is a caution from FKL so it's wise to listen to that. | aly48
05/10/2004 12:07 | hey' chaps, this is such an obvious shakeout attempt today. trading today doesn't warrant such a price markdown and i know these guys are well short of stock. never wrong to take a profit and all that, but i think you're too early... | 64bit
05/10/2004 11:38 | Good move, I sold the lot earlier today, also due to the RNS, should be able to buy back in well under £6 | aly48

05/10/2004 09:49 | I think we are in a funny situation with FOGL. FOGL havent done any full 2d seismic exploration, not done any 3d seismic exploration and the grey market is now at 86p somebody says. FKL says there is great expectations. But who else is trying for oil in the Falklands? Desire Petroleum who have done 2d & 3d Seismic explorations and have recently been to USA looking for farm-in partners. This assumes that DES have found commercially viable oil!! We are waiting on DES for an rns to confirm their partners. If it comes between now and the FOGL flotation and its positive then we will see the DES share price go up and FOGL hopefully take off like CWO in recent days. If the DES farm-in is a damp squid, FOGL might end up a damp squid as well....imho | ![]() cezary
05/10/2004 08:09 | RNS has put the cat among the pigeons IMO | m5artin
05/10/2004 07:09 | Do you contact KBC peel Hunt if you want to subscribe to FOGL? If so what s the number ? Good RNS this morning , it gives you confidence when they do something to support the share prices,... afterall they could have done a DES. | ![]() keene
04/10/2004 19:05 | if fkl keep their 10% of fogl the profit is £500m!!! never mind they will be coining via the build and support costs!! plus the gold. current mkt cap £38m!!! | ![]() greg the grinch
