This was always going to be the interesting bit.
£7 is a good price but I think from here the fun begins.
When desire get there farm in deal then fkl will double at the very least.
If fogl does a desire then we are as the fsp says into 10 bagger territory.
good luck all.

SCOTLAND OFFSHORE:

ABERDEEN HARBOUR BOARD IS EXPLORING THE potential for increasing international oilrelated traffic in the North Sea and northern waters as far as the Barents Sea as part of a strategy for further developing the port's role in the industry. AHB is a member of a regional cluster which is participating in a joint EU/Norway Interreg 111B-sponsored Northern Maritime Corridor (NMC) project on maritime transportation and regional development around the North Sea, Iceland and northwest Russia.

Earlier this year, the board hosted a meeting of the NMC's Strand 4 petroleum sector group whose priorities include cross-border initiatives in the North Sea and maritime links to the Barents. It sees cross-border transport between oil industry support centres as a possible driver for lower costs and therefore an important factor in the mature oil province's future.

The NMC project on broad-based trading links was inspired by Norway, with Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, The Faeroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and Sweden also involved, as well as Scotland. Along with AHB, the other members of the northeast Scotland regional cluster are Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council, Scottish Enterprise and logistics company ASCO.

AHB chairman David Paton describes the NMC as a 'significant example' of the new opportunities which the board continues to actively pursue, in this instance building on existing strong Scandinavian connections.

Aberdeen Harbour has been making a growing contribution to the export of oilfield equipment in recent years - to destinations as far afield as the Falklands and the Far East. Activity in the Caspian Region has seen shipments both direct via Baltic and Russian waterways and through Continental ports.

The export role has meant expansion of marshalling facilities at the port where the latest yard was completed last year.

Aberdeen has also continued to attract additional North Sea traffic, most significantly with last year's transfer of BP Exploration to a new base at the port. Aberdeen is also being used by new generation operators.

The availability of 14 deepwater berths has proved significant in providing the capacity to accommodate larger vessels now operating in the industry. The overall tonnage of shipping handled in 2003 was a record for the fifth year in succession at 18.9 million tonnes, of which the oil industry accounted for 10.8 million.

With a budget of around £30 million for development and maintenance at the port in the five-years to 2008 - on top of more than £130 million invested since the 1970s - AHB chief executive Barclay Braithwaite noted: 'By maximising our assets through ongoing redevelopment, we can ensure that the facilities and services are there to accommodate new opportunities.

or... So why will FOGL "need more skills/knowledge/contacts/VESSELS etc...
hmm...? ??, was it 1987 that the last taskforce sailed...? ;))
if the VLCC rates are a clue - shipping is facing a comeback.
nice trading today, touchscreen was bidding 601.5p to sell at 1629pm ;))

So why will FKL "need more skills/knowledge/contacts/vessels etc in the near future", then? They seem to have coped quite well the last time drilling took place.

"If you are suggesting that FKL is interested in buying Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Co to acquire skills and boats to be used in the Falklands when the oil-boom starts"
Not at all, I never mentioned an oil boom, you have to find oil first before you have an oil boom.
FKL will make money from the services side before they make anything from any oil boom if there is one.
"I suspect the reason is property, possibly for retail development"
Could be, there is always good money in dockland/waterfront refurshishments.
I'm just throwing a few ideas into the pot, as you have also done.

If you are suggesting that FKL is interested in buying Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Co to acquire skills and boats to be used in the Falklands when the oil-boom starts, this seems very dubious. As can be seen from the Falkland Islands Co website, their experience in shipping services is already considerable, and if they need more, the acquisition of a North Sea services company would make more sense. I suspect the reason is property, possibly for retail development - as you have examined the accounts, perhaps you can throw more light on this.

Firstly PHFC make good money, check their accounts, FKL want to invest in something that will make money from their cash.
Also FKL have experience in the ferry/services side and will need more skills/knowledge/contacts/vessels etc in the near future.
Island communities and ferries go together
Shifting stuff is done by ferry
Also opposite quiet periods on different side of the world, tourism/winter ans summer season, somethings lie dormant making no money in these periods, good porential in profits if they can be used all year instead.
It's all there if you research the accounts, RNSs etc of FKL and also other comanies involved in the future of the Falklands over the next couple of years
all IMHO of course!

aly48 - what knowledge skills, what future ? I've used the ferries for nearly 50 years and I'd love to know what the benefits really will be to FKL.

Traders are talking in terms of Falklands Oil & Gas as being the new CAIRN ENERGY,it is a proven fact that there is Oil there, but it was always to expensive to develop but with rising Oil prices it is now feasible to extract.

Keith,
i posted a few days ago that the shares would be 40p and they had succesfully raised the £10m, so at least you know my information is right, they expect it to be 10x oversubscribed so they are not giving anyone anytime, why wait for a month if you can have the money in a week.

Forgive my naivety here but if they are not sending out prospectus until this weekend and they are expecting to trade on the 14th, isn't the timescale a little tight.

The other annoying thing is I am off to the States on business for a week and won't be back until the 9th so I hope they don't have a stupid cut off date for applications.

Thanks Greg and dunnIE. Looks like things are on the rise again post the UK/Argentina meetings. Next important item for FKL (except for FOGL) is the mining survey reports in November, if they are good we will see things climbing higher than the previous peak.
