230000 PHFC shares in issue, intdiv of 24p ps = 55200 cash pile, less the 26%
odd we own already..
that's a very small carrot to be dangling in front of PHFC shareholders..
..how generous we are ;))
seriously though - this deal must be running down to the wire now...
acceptance has to be given within 21 days from the revised offer being
posted, that's the 1st november, so not long to wait..
fwiw, i believe that although attention is currently on oil, and may remain
so for the immediate future, investors should be aware that the gold market
is at a pivotal point at this juncture. several perspectives - geopolitical,
TA, deficits and monetery dollar/interest rate cycles all point to a very
exciting period for the gold price. pog to set a new channel..?
i expect that the fml float will catch that wave.. and ultimately will be
'the' one to gap-up fkl's share price
the 55200gbp given back to PHFC..?, they're welcome, lets just see this deal
completed or evaporated - so that we can concentrate on the real unrealised
value locked inside fkl.

PHFC published consolidated accounts for the year ended 31 December 2003,

2003 2002
£'000 £'000
TurnOver 4,571 4,693
Pre-Tax Profit 775 915
Net Assets 2,918 2,520
EPS 222.87p 323.49p
Dividends per share 50p 29p
Net asset per share £12.69 £10.96

PHFC passenger capacity to increase 50% by 2ndQ 05.
Commenting on the revised offer (12oct04).. PHFC directors continue to oppose
the terms of the proposed takeover, saying they fell "short of a price that
fully reflects the future potential of the company".

quoted the current mid of 552.5p to sell 5000.. :))

hmm.. the mystery of PHFC..
PHFC have a very strong balance sheet and with a new ferry due for launch in
spring 05 - their earnings should be considerably enhanced.

touchscreen quoting the current mid of 537.5p to sell.. :))

Atlantic. Having been with FKL (or Anglo Utd) since 1992 and seen share dilution reduce my capital by 75%, then watched the share price rise to give me nearly 100% profit I have the faith of the masses :-)

If you look at the diversity of the company it is very impressive. They have fishing and landing rights on the islands, substantial land holdings, huge areas for mineral rights plus their interest in PHFC to consider and, of course, the oil interests. If we discount the oil then we still have 3 other areas with either solid earnings or significant potential. Fishing will always be a staple earner for the company especially as fish stocks dwindle and supply demand increases in other areas of the world.

Minerals is one with massive potential. The islands have been proven to have substantial deposits and they appear to be commercially viable. Couple this with the fact that FKL own all the key landing sites around the islands and you see that any company wishing to process the minerals MUST use FKL land to get them to sea. I can see FKL (or FML as the new company will be) offering mining rights to companies therefore reducing its overall exposure financially while securing 2 or even 3 solid revenue streams (mining, land rented for processing sites and harbour facilities for loading and shipping)

PHFC has been a quandary but appears prudent given the recent decision not to have a Portsmouth Tunnel. There have also been a number of articles regarding British ferry companies recently especially in Scotland and I wonder whether PHFC is the tip of the iceberg with regard to FKL acquisitions.

Hopefully this clarifies and substantiates my faith in a company that has weathered the storm and is creating the bastion of solidity and intelligent diversification.

Keith if there is oil in Commercial quantities in the Falklands,i can see the logic of a holding in fkl and the potential for significant capital appreciation.Without oil a pe ratio of 50 is very expensive. You obviously have faith.

I didn't think FML were trading yet? Mind you I am still new at this BB stuff so would be interested if it is just an information sharing forum. I have shares in FKL and FOGL and FML would make a nice set. (Good grief I think I have just invented a new Monopoly game!!!!!!!)

FKL is suffering due to its ongoing battle to buy PHFC. Also there is an issue on the way that will further dilute the price in the short term. FOGL has also muddied the waters.

Make no mistake all of us who have been with FKL for some time have seen them come good and if this stock doesn't reach £10 next year will be surprised.

Also don't fall into the trap a lot of people have and place all the eggs in FOGL. FKL retains all the prime landing and refinery spots on the islands PLUS it has mineral rights to some very choice deposits (if initial findings are to be believed...see previous posts from about 2 months ago). If FKL were ONLY in the oil side I wouldn't be here but they are diverse, well managed and soundly financed.

Why is fkl plummetting?
Apparently its earnings per share are 10 p according to one tipster. The Pe ratio
remains very high .
I thought fogl has very good licences, the share price of fkl suggests otherwise.

Boy this has gone eerily quiet since yesterday. Well the waters have cleared a little and FOGL didn't rise to the heavens or plumb the depths. FKL will decline slightly more until the storm clouds have cleared and I can only get so many cliches in one paragraph!!!
